What to Watch on Saturday: Watch 'The Firm' while you still can

The Ride (8pm, Showtime) - A documentary following "Amazing Race" host Phil Keoghan on a grueling 40-day bike ride across America to raise $1 million for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Keoghan's adventure included a trip to the hospital, extreme exhaustion, drastic weight loss and a dangerous crash in Ohio.

My Cat From Hell (8pm, Animal Planet) - In the second season finale: an attack cat has a couple fearing for the safety of their two-year-old son, and two sphynx cats fight for control of their owners' house. There's a marathon of Season 2 episodes starting today at 3. Animal Plane recently announced the show will back for Season 3.

The Firm (9pm, NBC) - NBC has moved this struggling drama to Saturday nights, which is not a good sign ("Awake" will air in the old spot on Thursdays starting March 1). So if you're a fan, watch it while you still can. In tonight's episode, two brothers become codefendants in a case that forces Mitch to coax one to betray the other. Meanwhile, Tammy works on a cryptic clue in the Sarah Holt case.

Pit Boss (9pm, Animal Planet) - Two back-to-back new episodes for tonight's season finale. In the first episode, Shorty learns his secret memoir will be published so he must prepare his sister for the book's surprises about their family. In the 10 p.m. episode, Shorty agrees to be "roasted" at a fundraiser for rescue charities.

Saturday Night Live (11:29pm, NBC) - Maya Rudolph hosts and the music guest is Sleigh Bells.  So, there's basically no way Rudolph can do her excellent Whitney Houston impersonation now, right?

Also, the TechJunkie blog has info on three shows airing on the National Geographic Channel today about illegal street racing and auto theft.

What to Watch on Saturday: NFL honors and great late night music

My Cat From Hell (8pm, Animal Planet) - Jackson Galaxy helps a woman whose cat attacks her roommate every chance it gets. I say, maybe the cat knows something she doesn't know. Also, some newlyweds move into a new house and then their cats suddenly no longer get along.

NFL Honors (9pm, NBC) - In advance of this weekend's Super Bowl, the NFL salutes its top players and plays in Indianapolis. Host Alec Baldwin is joined by celebrities and NFL stars, and awards are presented to NFL MVP, Coach of the Year, and the Walter Payton Man of the Year.

Pit Boss (9pm, Animal Planet) - The rescue of a severely abused pit bull turns dangerous for Shorty and Sebastian when the dog is frightened.

Saturday Night Live (11:29pm, NBC) - Channing Tatum hosts. Despite that fact, I will tune in for the musical guest Bon Iver.

Austin City Limits (Midnight, UNC-TV) - Wilco performs from their 2011 album "The Whole Love."

What to Watch on Saturday: Meredith student competes for Miss America title

A Taste of Romance (8pm, Hallmark) - A movie about a classically trained chef (Teri Polo) who gets competition when a former fireman (James Patrick Stuart) opens a restaurant next door to hers. Though they clash initially, the pair soon strike up a friendship with the help of the man's precocious daughter (Bailee Madison). Check out Adrienne's review.

The Firm (8pm, NBC) - If you missed the two-hour premiere of this new drama last Sunday, and it sounds like a whole lot of you did, you can watch tonight. But just like on Sunday, it's opposite a big NFL game (AFC Divisional game on CBS).

My Cat From  Hell (8pm, Animal Planet) - Jackson Galaxy helps owners of a Bengal cat who disturbs the peace, and a cat who sneaks into an apartment.

Miss America Pageant (9pm, ABC) - Brooke Burke and Chris Harrison host the pageant, which is in its 91st year. Miss North Carolina, Hailey Best of Goldsboro, will be competing. Best is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts and currently attends Meredith College, where she is a vocal performance major. Best is also Miss Durham 2011.

Collision Earth (9pm, Syfy) - A solar event puts Mercury on a collision course with Earth, and a discredited scientist's weapon of mass destruction may be the world's only hope.

Saturday Night Live (11:29, NBC) - Daniel Radcliffe hosts and the music guest is Lana Del Rey.

Austin City Limits (Midnight, UNC-TV) - Arcade Fire perform songs from their Grammy-winning album, "The Suburbs."

What to Watch on Saturday: 'My Cat From Hell' returns, Kelly Clarkson on SNL

My Cat From Hell (8pm, Animal Planet) - In tonight's Season 2 premiere, cat behavior expert Jackson Galaxy (left) works with a couple's aggressive cat who poses a financial threat to their in-home Pilates studio. Also, a man uses the unpredictable behavior of their cat as a reason (excuse?) to postpone his proposal to his live-in girlfriend. And how's this for cool: We got a chance to interview Galaxy on Thursday!

Fixing Pete (8pm, Hallmark) - A fashion columnist (Brooke Burns) receives an assignment to make over a sloppy sportswriter (Dylan Bruno). As the pair spend time together, they learn from each other and romance blooms, but complications threaten to keep them apart. Adrienne reviewed this.

Metal  Evolution: Grunge (10pm, VH1 Classic) - An exploration of the grunge genre and how its rise precipitated the downfall of telegenic glam metal.

Saturday Night Live (11:29pm, NBC) - Charles Barkley hosts and Kelly Clarkson is the musical guest.

Austin City Limits (Midnight, UNC-TV) - Performances by Seattle indie rock band The Head and the Heart and British modern rock group Gomez.

Animal Planet's Jackson Galaxy works that old cat magic

Jackson Galaxy works magic.

He can not only slow-eye-blink a rageaholic kitty cat into relatively peaceful submission, he can also cajole impertinent cat owners (or impertinent significant others of cat owners) into calm, feline-adoring beings.

Galaxy, a cat behaviorist who stars in Animal Planet's "My Cat From Hell" series, would say there's no magic involved. He would say it's just experience stemming from years of "trench training" in cat shelters and dealing with hundreds of distressed cat owners who are at a loss when it comes to relating to their pets.

Season 2 of "My Cat From Hell" debuts tonight at 8 p.m. on Animal Planet. I spoke with Galaxy by phone on Thursday, and when he wasn't telling me how my own cats were "calling all the shots" in my house, he talked a little about his background with cats and where he hopes to take the show in the future.

What to Watch on Saturday: Timberlake and Gaga close out SNL season

Chase (8pm, NBC) - Annie lets the team in on troubling details about her past when they take on a case that involves putting the life of her estranged father in danger. I feel like this (canceled) show will never end.

It's Me or the Dog (8pm, Animal Planet) - Victoria helps clam three hyper dogs that have caused strife between their owners. In this show's companion piece, "My Cat From Hell" (9pm), a couple are surprised to discover that the cat they're fostering is feral, and another pair deal with a cat that has extreme mood changes.

River Monsters (9pm, Discovery) - In the Australian Outback, Jeremy attempts to catch the endangered freshwater sawfish, which is said to attack boats.

Sinbad and the Minotaur (9pm, Syfy) - Sinbad (Manu Bennett) must steal a relic from a sorcerer before leading his crew in search of treasure on an island inhabited by a minotaur.

Saturday Night Live (11:29, NBC) - For the show's season finale, Justin Timberlake is the host and the music guest is Lady Gaga. Timberlake has hosted SNL four times and this will be Gaga's second appearance. When Gaga was on the show in October 2009 (with host Ryan Reynolds), she took part in several sketches. She is pictured here with Andy Samberg.

What to Watch on Saturday: Documentary goes "Off the Rez"

Chase (8pm, NBC) - This show has been very rightfully canceled. But if you are one of the few who likes it, continue to watch while you can. Bounty hunter Ben Crowley is recruited to help in the pursuit of a dangerous escapee who has remained on the run thanks to help from family and friends.

Off the Rez (9pm, TLC) - A new documentary (produced by Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos) which profiles a Native American basketball player, Shoni Schimmel, and her mother, Ceci Moses. The film follows the family's quest to secure a college scholarship for Schimmel by leaving their home on the Umatilla Reservation in Oregon.

Edge of the Garden (9pm, Hallmark) - A workaholic (Rob Estes) buys a rundown cottage in Maine, where he encounters the ghost of a woman (Sarah Manninen) who used to live there in the 1960s. As the two form a friendship, the man becomes determined to change the woman's fate.

My Cat From Hell (9pm, Animal Planet) - I think this show should be renamed "My Boyfriend from Hell" because nearly all the stories so far seem to be about men who don't like their girlfriends' cats. Then the show could be sponsored by Match.com

Saturday Night Live (11:29pm, NBC) - Ed Helms ('The Office') hosts and Paul Simon in the musical guest.

'My Cat From Hell' shows owners need training, too

I'm a cat person, so I get excited when Animal Planet adds a cat show to their regular lineup of pit bulls and river monsters.

Tonight they debut 'My Cat From Hell,' a show in which hipster cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy works with "problem cats" who wreak havoc in their owners' homes. But as you often see in similar shows geared toward problem dogs, the beings in need of the most training are usually two-legged.

What to Watch on Saturday: Lady Gaga wows MSG, Tina Fey hosts SNL

It's Me or the Dog (8pm, Animal Planet) - Victoria helps a contentious couple curb their dog's dangerous behavior to ensure the safety of their three kids.

My Cat From Hell (9pm, Animal Planet) - This new show is sort of the counterpart to 'It's Me or the Dog,' just with a way more incendiary title, and the lives of little children aren't in danger here. In tonight's first episode, a stressed out cat comes between a woman and her boyfriend, and a newly engaged couple deal with his dislike of her cats. The host is hipster cat behaviorist Jackson Galaxy, who is not only a zen cat whisperer, but as we see in tonight's episode, a jerk whisperer, too. Read more about the new show.

Lady Gaga Presents the Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden (9pm, HBO) - The title sort of says it all. Gaga performs with a 10-piece band and 10 backup singers. The show was taped in February 2011. If you can't wait, you can go ahead and check out some extrended previews and behind-the-scenes clips.

Three Weeks, Three Kids (9pm, Hallmark) - A free spirit (Anna Chlumsky) babysits her sister's kids for an extended period, thanks to a plot by her mother. While helping the kids deal with issues like bullying, popularity, and teenage drinking, the woman also connects with a handsome neighbor (Warren Christie).

Almighty Thor (9pm, Syfy) - A timely new Syfy movie about a hero (Cody Deal) from Valhalla who rises up against a demonic god (Richard Grieco) who threatens to obliterate Los Angeles.

Saturday Night Live (11:29pm, NBC) - Tina Fey is back as the host, and the music guest is Ellie Goulding. There's a rumor Amy Poehler may stop by.
