Target deal on board games plus free pizza bonus

You've probably noticed that retailers are already ramping it up for the holidays so from time to time I'll be pointing out deals that work for holiday shoppers on a budget.

This week, I took note of Target's "Family Game Night" deal: Buy a $12 board game and Target will throw in a Tombstone pizza for free.

Only a so-so deal.

But here's how to work a little coupon magic to make it a stellar deal:

If toys and games are on your shopping list for the holidays -- or your child has a birthday party invitation on the fridge -- here's a nice opportunity to save a few dollars.

The Hasbro company has a spot on its website where you can print coupons on toys and games.

The selection varies, but right now coupons are available on some of the classics:

Here's a deal opportunity that won't last long: hot new coupons for board games that you might be able to snag for as little as $1.

Buying Hamsterdam: A Monopoly version of "The Wire?"

It's an idea so great that it's hard to believe it's just a joke. But it is.

A satirical website out of the UK (think British "Onion") has a great little story about Monopoly coming out with a version of their game based on the widely acclaimed HBO cult hit, "The Wire." The Poke story even has fake quotes from a Hasbro official explaining the game and some of the "Re-up" or "The Game" cards you might draw: "Chris and Snoop are looking for you! Hide! Miss 2 goes.’”
