Food truck event Monday at Raleigh's North Hills mall

Captrust, a financial advising firm, is hosting a food truck rodeo at North Hills mall from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6.

Ten percent of all sales will be donated to the Payton Wright Foundation, which raises money for pediatric brain cancer research and to support families dealing with this diagnosis.

The event will happen in the parking lot behind Bruegger's. The trucks include Klausie's Pizza, Chirba Chirba Dumpling, Captain Ponchos Taco Truck, Gussy's Greek Street Food, Olde North State BBQ, Big City Sandwiches, Big John's Hot & Spicy (although their Facebook page says they are off the road), Kona Ice and Lumpy's Ice Cream.

Expanding North Hills considers installing its own transit system

The developer behind Raleigh's North Hills wants to install a transit system within the development that would shuttle people around in elevated, battery-powered vehicles.

Kane Realty announced Tuesday that it is partnering with ULTra PRT on a feasibility study to see if the company's transit system could be used in North Hills.

PRT, or Personal Rapid Transit, uses 4-person vehicles on elevated tracks to transport people short distances. Users would be able to take the cars, on demand, to the station of
their choice within North Hills.

The system would address an issue that North Hills is likely to face as it continues to expand: How to conveniently and efficiently get people across Six Forks Road and to areas east where Kane hopes to expand in the future.

Barrel Monster artist strikes again

The Barrel Monster artist has struck again - this time with a giant sword-wielding knight made of street signs that now will be a permanent fixture at Cameron Village.

N.C. State senior Joe Carnevale caused quite a stir last year when he erected  a giant monster made of construction barrels along the highway. His renown spread nationwide when he was sentenced to 50 hours community service for misdemeanor charges of larceny and damage to property.

Since then, he's created several masterpiece monsters, including one that's perched atop a building along Hillsborough Street in front of the N.C. State Campus.

The Street Knight was crafted for an Earth Day celebration at Cameron Village in April. It was to spend two weeks there, but merchants and officials of the village opted to make it permanent.
