Seth Keel announces plans to run for Raleigh mayor
Submitted by KeungHui on 06/13/2011 - 13:33Seth Keel wants to go from being arrested for protesting the end of the diversity policy at Wake County school board meetings to being Raleigh's next mayor.
Keel announced today that he's running for mayor in part because "the Mayor and City Council should be standing up to the school board and the state legislature, fighting for the rights of all students to be provided a quality education." Legally, there's a question whether the 17-year-old Middle Creek High School student is old enough to run.
The N.C. HEAT member has made a name for himself over the past year.
Reviewing my 'predictions' from Friday's second round games
Submitted by dclaybest on 11/21/2010 - 13:18I made my first 'predictions' of the season before last week's area playoff games. They weren't actual score predictions, I opted for more specific things that I thought were going to happen during the course of each game. Looks like I fared pretty well.
Garner 35, Middle Creek 20

GARNER -- Garner rallied from a 13-point deficit, its largest deficit of the season, to defeat rival Middle Creek 35-20 in the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-AA football playoffs.
The Trojans (11-2) will play at Wake Forest-Rolesville (12-1) Friday in the third round of the playoffs.
Clay's 'Predictions' for some of Friday night's area prep football games
Submitted by dclaybest on 11/19/2010 - 09:20I'm not big on predicting scores of games. I always start to feel like I'd need to start wearing open-collared shirts, a lot of sloppy gold jewelry, expose a lot of chest hair, get an 800-number and buy time on Fox Sports Net early Saturday morning. And that wouldn't be good for anybody.
But still, there are several things I'm convinced will happen in each of the four playoff games involving teams in the Garner-Clayton Record and The Herald readership areas. Here goes…
