Outer Loop Sports Show 4/28

On this week's Outer Loops Sports Show, we touch on a number of sports as the playoffs are either here or fast approaching.

We discuss:

  • The Tri-Nine baseball picture, and how it's basically down to two teams now and the last playoff spot is between Apex and Fuquay.
  • The Tri-Nine softball picture, how Apex has taken the lead and how Green Hope refuses to go away quietly.
  • The recent Tri-Nine golf championships, won by Green Hope and Mike Cromie
  • The pending Tri-Nine boys tennis championships, later won by Apex's Wesley Barrett and Green Hope's Jake Bowling/Taylor Elliott.
  • The upcoming lacrosse playoffs
  • And... D. Clay Best says he thinks we'll know something on the new Johnston County football hires as soon as next week.

Cromie is Tri-Nine's top golfer

Michael Cromie of Green Hope captured this year's Tri-Nine boys golf player of the
year honors after finishing the season with a 35.3 stroke average.

Final Tri-9 boys golf stats

Michael Cromie captured this year's Tri-Nine boys golf player of the year honors after finishing the season with a 35.3 stroke average.

Cromie narrowly defeated Andy Knox of Apex (35.8) and Alex Ehlert of Athens Drive (also 35.8). Cromie, a senior signed to play at Georgia, is the defending 4-A state champion and fired a 35 at the Tri-Nine championships down in Anderson Creek Country Club on Monday.

Several Tri-Nine players will return next Monday to Anderson Creek to play in the Mideast Regional.
