We have winners in our Harris Teeter Super Doubles giveaways

Super Doubles is over, which means it's time to announce the winner of the $25 Harris Teeter gift card I had up for grabs.

Your comments were great. I loved hearing all your savings stories, but I especially enjoyed hearing from two college students who are finding time for coupons while studying. I'm so impressed.

I'm guessing they are the most popular students in their dorms or apartment complexes.

It was also fun to see pictures of your HT hauls. Thanks to everyone who posted photos on the Centsible Saver Facebook page. If you haven't had a look, check it out HERE under "Recent Posts By Others."

OK. Enough suspense.

Here are the winners:

Check your junk mail for McDonald's and Food Lion coupons

Be sure to check your junk mail this week.

We received our weekly installment yesterday and inside the usual stack, I found a coupon booklet for McDonald's and several coupons for Food Lion's My Essentials products.

Two new McDonald's open with special deals

Two new McDonald's restaurants in the Triangle are offering special deals as part of their grand opening celebrations.

Swap coupons today at McDonald's in Cary or Raleigh

Two McDonald's restaurants in the Triangle are hosting coupon swaps today, June 21. So sorry for the short notice!

The swaps will be held at the following McDonald's from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.:

  • 3508 Millbrook Road in Raleigh
  • 1830 Walnut Street in Cary

After a trial run in the spring, both restaurants have decided to hold the swaps on the third Thursday of every month.

If you've never attended a coupon swap, I highly recommend it. It's a great way to gather extra coupons for the products your family regularly uses.

To participate, simply gather your unwanted clipped coupons, put them in an envelope and bring them to exchange with others. Envelopes are typically passed around the table until everyone has had the chance to look through all the envelopes.

Updated: Father's Day freebies and deals

You don't have to spend a lot of dough to make Dad happy on Father's Day, which, by the way, is this Sunday.

Businesses around the Triangle want to help you treat Dad without taxing your budget.

Here's a list of deals I've found. Please add any you've discovered in the comments section below.

Sold out: Last chance to sign up for my coupon class this Saturday

Here's one last friendly reminder about my coupon class, which is coming up this Saturday in downtown Apex.

You have until Friday to sign up.

And let me just say, if you've been on the fence about attending, maybe the perks will sway you.

Not only will you leave the half-day class with all the coupon know-how to save 50 percent or more on your grocery bill, but you'll walk away with some mighty nice freebies.

Everyone who attends will receive the 2012 Attractions coupon book, which is loaded with coupons for restaurants and local attractions and entertainment spots.

I've also got lots of things I'll be giving away as door prizes, including a $25 gift card to The Container Store, movie passes, grocery gift cards, free McDonald's iced coffee drink coupons, cookbooks, children's books, full-size samples of a new line of natural food products, and coupons for free Bruegger's bagels.

For those of you who choose to attend the optional coupon swap afterward at the Bruegger's in Apex, I'll also be giving away more Bruegger's coupons for free bagels.

Here are all the details:

FREE McDonald's Cherry Berry Chiller

Remember that surprise freebie I hinted at in Sunday's paper?

Be sure to check your Parade magazine. You'll find a coupon for a free Cherry Berry Chiller peeking out of the top of the magazine.

This is a new frozen drink McDonald's is offering. These typically cost $2 and up so a great freebie.

There's also a coupon for $1 off a medium or large frozen strawberry lemonade, frappe or fruit smoothie.

Swap coupons this week at McDonald's

Two McDonald's restaurants in the Triangle are hosting coupon swaps this week.

It's a great opportunity to bolster your supply of coupons for Harris Teeter's ongoing Triple Coupon event.

The swaps are at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 17, at the following McDonald's:

  • 3508 Millbrook Road in Raleigh
  • 1830 Walnut Street in Cary

Put your unwanted clipped coupons in an envelope and bring them to swap with fellow couponers.

If you've never attended a coupon swap, I highly recommend it. It's a great way to gather extra coupons for the products your family regularly uses.
