This is a post by N&O restaurant critic Greg Cox:
Matthew Beason and John Eisensmith, owners of Six Plates Wine Bar, are turning their attention to beer. The partners have announced that they’re on schedule to open Mattie B’s Public House in Hope Valley Commons (1125-301 West NC Highway 54; 919-401-8600; mattiebs.com) tonight at 5 p.m.
Local burgers and pizzas headline chef Eisensmith’s menu, with a supporting cast of the usual pub suspects, wings and an assortment of sandwiches. Setting Mattie B’s offering apart from the crowd, the chef has created a specialty offering of potato chips, fries and popcorn available with a variety of spice and flavor topping options.
To wash all that savory goodness down, choose from a selection of over 100 beers and ciders, including 12 on tap.
After tonight, Mattie B’s will be open Monday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 1-9 p.m.
