East Carolina tops Marshall 37-10

GREENVILLE – Despite a sluggish start and a few defensive missteps, East Carolina avoided the proverbial letdown on Saturday.

The Pirates put aside their feel-good, non-conference victory over N.C. State last week and met Marshall’s challenge head on, cutting down their Conference USA opponent 37-10 before an announced homecoming crowd of 50,145 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.

ECU heads to Marshall

East Carolina's baseball team will travel to Marshall this weekend with a head of steam, riding an eight-game winning streak and carrying a 3-0 Conference USA record into its second league series of the season.

The Pirates, 18-4 and ranked 19th nationally, are 10-1 all-time against the Thundering Herd. The schedule for the three-game series has been altered because of anticipated inclement weather. The teams will play a doubleheader today beginning at 1 p.m. The series finale is set for Saturday at 6 p.m.
