But wait, there's more! Mark Ballas will also rock at The Berkeley

Looks like Raleigh will have Ballas Fever next Wednesday.

Right after "Dancing with the Stars" champ Mark Ballas finishes up with his dance workshop at Arthur Murray Studios, he'll race downtown to rock out at The Berkeley Cafe.

Mark Ballas with Jason Adamo Band will perform at the Berkeley at 8pm on January 26.

According to the Ballas bio at the Berkeley website, Ballas has been playing the guitar since he was 4 and began writing his own music at 12. His debut solo CD, "HurtLoveBox," will be released next month.

Jason Adamo is a North Carolina-based soul/rock singer songwriter. He has toured all over the country and has played with artists such as Ben Harper, Jack Johnson, Corey Smith, and Hootie and the Blowfish.

The doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 8pm. Tickets are $15. Berkeley Cafe has more information.

Mark Ballas of "Dancing with the Stars" to hold dance workshop in Raleigh

Mark Ballas of "Dancing with the Stars" will hold a dance workshop in Raleigh next week at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio.

Just a beginner? Doesn't matter. The workshop is open to all levels, from beginners to advanced.

Pre-registration is required for the January 26th event, and space is limited. And the ticket price is $65, but how many people do you know can say they've had instruction from Mark Ballas? Go for it!

The two-time champion of "Dancing with the Stars" will focus on teaching, but will also set aside time for autographs and photos.

The workshop takes place January 26 from 6pm to 7:30pm at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh. To purchase tickets, call David Cox at 919-872-8900 or stop by the studio during business hours.

Update: Right after the workshop, Ballas will be performing (singing, not dancing) at the Berkeley downtown.

Dancer Mark Ballas on Bristol haters: "It's a dance show, not a political argument"

Happiness had a chance to talk to "Dancing With the Stars" pro dancer Mark Ballas today. He's coming to town soon as part of "Burn the Floor" at the Progress Energy Center, for a limited engagement starting Nov. 30.

We talked about that show, but we had to ask him some DWTS questions too.  It's elimination night, after all. A few excerpts from our chat:

On people who don't believe his partner Bristol Palin should still be in the competition: "I don't care what people say. I like to be positive, and keep an upbeat attitude. It's a dance show, not a political argument. Bristol is a 19-year-old, plucked out of Alaska. She's the only one on the show who is not an entertainer. She's the most normal person. People watch and say 'You know, if I was on the show, that's how it would be for me.' I've had people come up to me and say 'I'm 100 percent Democrat and I vote for Bristol because she's the most relatable.'

Raleigh native wins "Dancing With the Stars" contest

If you watched the “Dancing With the Stars” results show on May 12, you saw the work of Raleigh native Becky Farmer.

Farmer was the winner of the Macy’s Design a Dance contest, which asked the viewers to choose the song, type of dance, costume design and male and female lead dancers for a special segment.

Farmer, a former Millbrook High School student, submitted the winning costume design and sat in the audience at the live show to see Julianne and Derek Hough, Mark Ballas and Lacey Schwimmer wear her designs.
