What to Watch on Thursday: Obama speech closes out DNC

Democratic National Convention - The Democrats get to business in Charlotte. Just like the Republican party in Tampa, the wall-to-wall coverage will be online and on cable news channels. The broadcast networks start coverage at 10 p.m. and PBS (UNC-TV locally) has coverage starting at 8 p.m. Tonight, a speech from President Barack Obama. Here's the full rundown of what the networks and cable outlets have planned.  

MTV Video Music Awards (8pm, MTV) - Comedian Kevin Hart hosts the 29th annual bash at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Scheduled performers include Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Green Day, One Direction, Alicia Keys and Pink.

Rookie Blue (9pm, ABC) - In the third season finale, Andy and Swarek face off with a violent child abductor, and Chris contemplates a transfer request.

Crime Inc. (9pm, CNBC) - An examination of health care fraud includes a look at doctors who knowingly perform unnecessary surgeries and businessmen who sell phony insurance policies.

Iron Men (9pm, The Weather Channel) - Rough weather complicates work on the World Trade Center and the Barclays Center sports arena in Brooklyn.
