Be on the lookout for Lowes Foods' coupon booklet

If you happen to be shopping at Lowes Foods, keep your eyes open for a coupon booklet filled with some pretty terrific coupons.

Nineteen coupons worth an estimated $21 are in the "Fall Savings" booklet, which is free for the taking.

And the best part: All 19 coupons are manufacturer's coupons, which you can use at any store you please.

Wednesday deals (Oct. 5- 11)

This is such a fantastic week for deals, it's hard to know where to start. Harris Teeter has milk on sale for $2.97 as well as numerous Buy 2, Get 3 FREE deals. But do yourself a favor and check out Harris Teeter's digital coupons because when you pair them up with traditional paper coupons, you'll score some free and super inexpensive deals.

Lowes Foods also has some great deals associated with its new set of three-week coupons in today's circular. You can score some unbelievably good deals by stacking those coupons with manufacturer's coupons and Lowes Foods' digital coupons. How does 50 cents for two cake mixes and two frostings sound? Or 50 cents each for four multi-packs of yogurt? And that's just for starters.

At Food Lion, there are tons of BOGO deals and special Pepsi/Frito Lay and Unilever deals that have potential. And at Aldi, apples and pears are less than a dollar a pound. And there are seasonal specials, such as Pumpkin Pie ice cream for $2.49 a carton and a 3-pack of caramel apples for just $1.29.

Read on for all the best deals at each store. And feel free to chime in throughout the week with deals you have scored.

Lowes Foods enhances gasoline rewards program

Through a partnership with Wilco Hess gas stations, Lowes Foods has announced it is expanding its gasoline rewards program.

That's good news for Lowes Foods customers because up until now only those who shopped at one of the chain's 20 stores with gasoline stations could participate in the program that rewards loyal shoppers with discounted gasoline.

Lowes Foods opens new stores aimed at price-conscious customers

Lowes Foods is opening new grocery stores across the state with a new look and a new name: Just $ave.

As the name indicates, the stores are aimed at folks looking for bargain prices. Lowes Foods is referring to Just $ave as its "frugal cousin."

Two Just $ave stores opened today, one in Roxboro and another in Thomasville. A sixth Just $ave opens in Asheboro next week, with tentative plans for more.

Lowes Foods statement on 'Extreme Couponing' show

In case you missed it, I wrote a story in Sunday's N&O about two North Carolina shoppers being featured in the upcoming new season of the controversial TV show "Extreme Couponing."

Both women shopped at Lowes Foods, a Winston-Salem-based grocery with stores throughout North Carolina and South Carolina.

As I reported in the story, Lowes Foods spokesman Lisa Selip said the store now regrets participating in the taping of the show, which airs on the TLC network and has stoked controversy from the start with the questionable couponing techniques of many of its featured over-the-top shoppers.

Today, Lowes Foods released a statement on its Facebook page responding to comments it has received regarding its decision to be a part of the show.

Wednesday deals (Sept. 21-27)

While Harris Teeter dominated the deals last week with a Triple Coupon promotion, Lowes Foods has got a fantastic 3-day sale that headlines this week's deals. Friday through Sunday, milk will be $2.77 a gallon, boneless chicken breasts will be $1.67 per pound and 5-pound bags of potatoes will be $2. Those are some terrific stock-up prices. Other notable deals: Harris Teeter has several of its Buy 2, Get 3 Free sales, along with numerous BOGO deals. Meats, chicken, shrimp and coffee are all on sale.

Wednesday deals (Sept. 14-20)

The big news in the grocery world this week is definitely the Triples event at Harris Teeter. But there are still some notable deals at the other stores, including cheap TP at Lowes Foods, a 3-day sale at Food Lion and some fantastic produce deals at Aldi.

Read on for a store-by-store breakdown. Or, if you want to focus all your efforts on Triples at Harris Teeter, click here to see all those deals.

Wednesday deals (Sept. 7-13)

It's a great week for deals at both Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods, along with more great prices on fruit at Aldi.

At Harris Teeter, you can't beat the 77-cent ice cream, the 49-cent Entenmann's doughnuts and the 67-cent Kashi entrees!

At Lowes Foods, there's a new sheet of in-ad coupons that are good until Sept. 27. These coupons, when paired with insert coupons, Internet print coupons and Lowes Foods digital coupons, will yield some great deals over the course of the month. Be sure to get yourself an extra copy at the store this week because after that, they'll disappear from the stores. Or, you can do as I usually do, and just have the cashier key in the coupon and keep your sheet of coupons intact. I especially like the 10-cent Old El Paso tortillas and the 25-cent cake mixes and frostings.

As always, read on for a store-by-store breakdown of all the deals. And this week, more than ever, please share the deals you find at Lowes Foods. In some cases, the possibilities are endless so I'd love to hear back from you.
