More Triangle golfers join N.C. Amateur Championship qualifiers

Triangle golfers from Raleigh, Durham, Morrisville and Apex on
Wednesday were among the 23 competitors to advance to the 50th N.C.
Amateur Championship from sectional qualifying hosted by the Lonnie
Poole Golf Course on N.C. State's Centennial Campus in Raleigh.

Henry Zaytoun III of Raleigh led the Triangle contingent, shooting a
3-under-par 69 and sharing second place with Daniel Claytor of Rocky
Mount. They finished two shots behind event winner Harold Varner III of
Gastonia, who shot a 67.

Golfers can join football's Holt brothers in Celebrity Golf Classic on April 18

The Triangle's recreational golfers have the chance to play a round of
golf with national sports figures and celebrities when brothers and NFL
players Torry Holt and Terrence Holt host their eighth annual Holt
Brothers Celebrity Weekend this month.

The weekend will begin with the April 17 Charity Social open to the
public at Solas restaurant in downtown Raleigh. Then, the Celebrity
Golf Classic will be played April 18 at the new Lonnie Poole Golf
Course on N.C. State’s Centennial Campus. Each foursome in the
tournament will have a celebrity captain.

The events raise money for The Holt Foundation and its efforts to
assist families faced with cancer through the KidsCan! Progam at Rex
Hospital in Raleigh.
