Charlotte native gets Kevin Williamson show for fall

Britt Robertson, the young Charlotte native who starred in the CW's "Life Unexpected," has been tapped to star in a new show slated to air on the same network this fall.

Robertson will star in "The Secret Circle," a drama based on a three-book series from "The Vampire Diaries" author L.J. Smith. Robertson will play a young woman who moves to a new town and discovers she's not only a witch but also the key to unlocking a centuries-old battle of good vs. evil.

Sound familiar? Yeah, it sounds an awful lot like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer." Which we love! So yes!

"The Secret Circle" is being co-written and exec-produced by another North Carolina native, Kevin Williamson of 'Scream" fame, who currently has a CW hit with "The Vampire Diaries." The Hollywood Reporter says Liz Freidlander will direct the pilot.

"Life Unexpected" ran for two seasons on The CW.

What to Watch on Tuesday: "White Collar" returns to further crowd 10 o'clock

Life Unexpected (8pm, CW) - The final two episodes of Season 2 (and quite possibly, the entire series) air tonight. In one, Baze prepares for a future with Emma, unaware of her secret past with his dad. Then Lux arranges a special meal for herself and Eric, but her parents find out and crash it. No official announcement on cancelation or a third season is expected until May. Charlotte native Britt Robertson plays Lux (left with her dad, Baze).

Pioneers of Television (8pm, UNC-TV) - The Season 2 premiere focues on three TV pioneers: Gene Roddenberry, Rod Serling, and Irwin Allen. Lots of interesting stuff and great interviews. Adrienne has more here.

Also, Will uncovers information regarding Bond's intent for the firm. NOTE!!!! There's a UNC vs. Clemson basketball game on right before this, so be extra cautious and set your recording devices to run late.

White Collar (10pm, USA) - The show returns for the winter portion of its season (I know, it's confusing the way USA and TNT break up their seasons) with Peter suspended and wrongly accused by the FBI and trying to clear his name -- all while looking for Mozzie's shooter during a sting with Neal (Matt Bomer, right).

Lights Out (10pm, FX) - Lights is threatened with criminal charges and must do the bidding of a loan shark to make it all go away. Meanwhile, his daughter Daniella learns of his health problems. Note: Meredith Hagner, who grew up in Chapel Hill, plays another of Lights Leary's daughters: Eva.

Detroit 1-8-7 (10pm, ABC) - Fitch, Washington, Stone, and Sanchez investigate the murder of a car-wash owner, while Longford and Mahajan look into the slaying of a rising hip-hop star. Xzibit, a Detroit native, guest stars as a hustler-turned-record producer. I think this show gets better each week.

The Good Wife (10pm, CBS) - Alicia's brother (Dallas Roberts, left, from "Rubicon") makes damaging comments about Peter that appear on the internet.

Nick Swardson's Pretend Time (10pm, Comedy Central) - In the premiere of comedian Nick Swardson's sketch-comedy show, a man is upset when his mother leaves all her money to the family cat and a father compiles a bucket list for his son. Also, a profile of Lady Gaga's brother, a police officer in New Jersey. The New York Times says "Pretend Time can be recommended to multi-taskers as mildly entertaining background noise."

CW renews "Life Unexpected" and "One Tree Hill"

The CW has renewed One Tree Hill and their new (quite good) drama Life Unexpected.

Life Unexpected is about a teenager named Lux who escapes foster care and ends up making a family with her unmarried parents, who gave her up when they were teenagers themselves.

The renewal is great news for Britt Robertson, originally from Charlotte, who stars as Lux.

Update: In a giant no-brainer, CW canceled Melrose Place.

"Life Unexpected" promises surprises in tonight's finale

The CW is advertising big surprises in tonight's season finale of their freshman hit, "Life Unexpected."

We know Cate and Ryan are supposed to be getting married, but that Cate and Baze have unresolved feelings for each other. Will the wedding go on? Adding intrigue, the CW synopsis says Lux (Charlotte's Britt Robertson) is going to reveal something that "could change all their lives forever." And there are pictures of Lux with Cate and Baze in a courtroom (left), and it looks as though Lux is wearing a black jacket over the bridesmaid dress shown in the wedding shots. Does Lux stop Cate's wedding to Ryan and drag her parents to the Justice of the Peace so that they can get married instead?

What to Watch Monday: A mummy's curse and NCAA champs

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - The spies regroup after learning it was a villainous operative responsible for the death of Shaw's wife, not Sarah. They set out to find the evildoer, but Chuck worries over Shaw's mental state.

Life Unexpected (8pm, The CW) - Cate, Baze, and Lux go on a road trip to track down Cate's long lost father (Peter Horton).

NCAA Basketball Championship (9pm, CBS) - It's the championship game between our hometown ACC champs Duke and the home court-advantaged Butler bulldogs. Can Duke do it?!

Nurse Jackie (10pm, Showtime) - Dr. Cooper is named one of the Top 25 doctors in New York City by New York magazine, and Grace's obnoxious friend walks in on Jackie snorting drugs.

Kell on Earth (10pm, Bravo) - In the season 1 finale, Kelly goes to LA to meet with her top gun clients. Back in New York, she focuses on a fundraiser for a breast cancer charity.

Castle (10pm, ABC) - In the conclusion to last week's "Boom!" cliffhanger, we'll learn if Beckett survived the explosion in her apartment (or rather, we'll learn how they'll explain Beckett's survival of the explosion in her apartment). Dana Delaney guest stars.

Nurse Jackie (10pm, Showtime) - Jackie and Coop continue to clash, and Jackie jumps the gun and sends an ill child home with the wrong diagnosis. Dr. O'Hara goes on a booze-and-pill binge after the death of her mother.

The United States of Tara (10:30pm, Showtime) - Tara's doormat alters are itching to make a comeback.

What to Watch on Monday: Chuck can't flash, but Castle is back.

Life Unexpected (8pm, CW) - In an effort to make sure we are never again able to watch this show, The CW moved it to Monday nights at 8pm, where people might also want to watch "House," or "Chuck," or "How I Met Your Mother" (all of which have new episodes this week, plus there's that crazy "Bachelor Wedding" on ABC).

Chuck (8pm, NBC) - Speaking of Chuck, he loses his ability to "flash" and is banned from missions. Brandon Routh is still around as Agent Shaw.

How I Met Your Mother (8pm, CBS) - The HIMYM guest star du jour is Jennifer Lopez.

Damages (10pm, FX) - The name of tonight's episode is "Don't Throw That at the Chicken," so it'll be worth watching just to see why...

Men of a Certain Age (10pm, TNT) - Joe bets $25,000 on a basketball game hoping to make a down payment on a house. And when Owen's father decides to trim his schedule, he asks Marcus to manage the dealership.
