Michael Douglas discusses Stage 4 throat cancer on Letterman (VIDEO)

Michael Douglas made his first television appearance last night since announcing that he has Stage 4 throat cancer. Douglas appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman" and was pretty candid about his disease and the treatment.

Douglas was diagnosed only three weeks ago and just completed his first radiation and chemotherapy treatment. He looked great, but pointed out to David Letterman that he's in the very beginning of treatment and the effects of his treatments will intensify. "This is the first week and the progression goes down," he said. "The chemo and radiation, the radiation continues to burn your mouth and it becomes more difficult to swallow, you can't take solids..."

The Letterman-Leno-Oprah Super Bowl ad

One of the most bizarre Super Bowl ads so far features David Letterman, Jay Leno, and Oprah Winfrey sitting together on a sofa as Letterman complains that it's the worst Super Bowl party ever.

And yes, they were all three together for the taping in the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York. Apparently, Leno had to sneak into the theater in disguise to preserve the secrecy of the taping, which was described as cordial.

Letterman and others skewer Jay 'Big Jaw' Leno (VIDEO)

The late night world is in turmoil while NBC stews in their own ineptitude, but the beneficiaries (for now, at least) are the viewers. The current late night shows are on fire poking fun at Jay Leno and the Peacock, making it harder than ever to decide who to watch each night before bed.

Perhaps the funniest late night skewering last night came from David Letterman, who knows a little something about getting screwed by NBC. Letterman repeatedly referred to Leno as Jay 'Big Jaw' Leno, and did a pretty hilarious immitation of Leno's high-pitched voice. Jimmy Kimmel was also hilarious, doing his entire show impersonating Leno, and his guest, Chevy Chase, wore a Conan O'Brien wig. Conan's monologue was also funny, telling his audience he would soon be available for childrens parties.

In case you missed the fun, we've pulled together all the good clips from the shows. Just click below to begin watching and laughing.

Letterman lifts ban on Kathy Griffin

Kathy Griffin's celebrity trashing (and cursing) has gotten her famously "banned" from a whole host of popular TV talk shows.

Tonight, the ban from "The Late Show with David Letterman" is lifted. Griffin, star of Bravo's "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List," will appear as Dave's guest tonight, and you better believe the alleged ban will come up. She last appeared on his show on July 24, 1997.

Kathy told Larry King in 2006 that she thinks she was banned from Letterman's show for cursing, but that perhaps she is also just "not his cup of tea."

She told "W" magazine that same year, "I swore on his show, and he's a [bleeping] old lady."

McCain: "I screwed up."

The McCain appearance on Letterman was actually pretty funny last night.

When Letterman asked McCain why he cancelled on him back in September, McCain said, "I screwed up." Twice. Big laughs. McCain was funny and relaxed.

Then they got into a slightly more heated political discussion and things were tense at times. A lot of the same ole same ole: not enough town hall debates, spread the wealth, Joe the Plumber, and Sarah Palin -- about whom McCain said, "I didn't know her well at all."

Letterman pressed him pretty hard his Obama/Ayers attacks, and McCain got a little heated in his criticism. But he seemed momentarily stunned when Letterman asked him about his own relationship with Watergate burglar G. Gordon Liddy.

If you missed the show, it's on the Late Show with David Letterman website.

But this wasn't the only place serving up political laughs last night. McCain and Barack Obama roasted each other at the Al Smith Dinner in New York, and they were pretty funny. Obama said that his first name is actually Swahili for "that one," and McCain revealed that Obama's pet name for him is "George Bush." There's video here.

Joe Biden appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, but according to the LA Times blogger, it wasn't all that funny -- except for Biden's "gaffe" intro.

And -- this could be great -- Sarah Palin is scheduled to appear on Saturday Night Live tomorrow night. Now that is a DVR Alert!
