Belk's Kristin Davis Collection gets cut

It looks as if Kristin Davis of Sex and the City fame and Belk department stores have decided to part ways, according to this story on NYMag.com.

Her spring collection, which was supposed to debut at Fashion Week Sept. 13, was cancelled by Davis late last week, the story says.

"We both understand that the challenges of the economic and retail environment have led to even more close evaluations and adjustments in order to meet our changing customer needs and shopping patterns," Kathryn Bufano, Belk's president of merchandise and marketing, wrote in a statement.

We talked to Davis, who grew up shopping at Belk while living in South Carolina, for a story about the collection just as it was set to debut in stores last summer. I never actually bought anything from the collection, but I did get this close to buying a pair of super cute Kristin Davis boots last fall (decided I had too many pairs of boots already, if that's humanly possibly). I don't know if it was the price point or the designs, but something always kept me from buying her stuff.

Davis says her designer days aren't over. She might look to partner with another retailer.
