Sheryl Crow plays the Booth

Sheryl Crow played in Cary on Sunday night, and N&O photographer Scott Sharpe was there to take pictures of her show (plus Colbie Callait's opening-act set). Check out the photo gallery here.

For the record, there were some folks in the audience who objected to Crow's between-song banter. Here is a letter that came in to the N&O's "Forum" address Monday morning:

This night had be planned for a few months. I purchased 3 tickets for myself & my family to see Sheryl Crow perform in Cary with the hopes of having a lovely evening with my family. This is the fourth time I've seen Sheryl Crow perform. I've always enjoyed her performances, up until tonight! During tonights show, on several occasions, she felt the need to politically enlighten the audience with her opinion criticism and bashing of the other political party. I could see other people around my section were also upset with her rant.  Shortly after she made her comments, we left and so did many others.

An expensive mistake, but I now know I will never attend or spend any money with Sheryl Crow's name attached to it!!!!

My Morning Jacket bringing Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Cary

Looks like we've got our first really big show of 2010 set for Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. My Morning Jacket will play there April 30 on an intriguing double-bill with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, according to tour dates released by the band. Ticket details to come, but that sounds like a very cool evening.

ADDENDUM: Also today comes word that Widespread Panic will return to Walnut Creek for a multi-night stand, April 23-24. Tickets go on sale next Friday, Feb. 5.

Cary Sunset 7000 seeks runners, Food Bank contributions

We can all use free stuff these days, and that includes free entry into
a running event that is part of the Sept. 19 Celebrate Cary at Sunset
festival.

Triangle runners can have their entry fees waived for the Cary Sunset
7000 at the Koka Booth Amphitheatre in Cary. The 4 p.m. race is a
7,000-yard - 1.25-mile - run, jog or walk around Symphony Lake.

Instead of paying the $15 entry fee, runners may make a donation of
food to the Food Bank of North Carolina at the Food Bank's booth during
the coinciding Celebrate Cary at Sunset Festival. A minimum donation of
$5 to $10 worth of food is required, but runners are welcome to contribute
more.
