"Abducted: The Carlina White Story" sells the wrong story short

Some crimes just scream Lifetime movie. I'm guessing that's what the network folks were thinking when they put "Abducted: The Carlina White Story" (8 tonight, Lifetime) in motion.

Woman finds out she was stolen from her family as a baby 23 years ago? Yes!  It's ripped from the headlines gold. And yet, "Abducted" is a mostly emotionless, by-the-numbers movie that only gets going toward the end of the film.

In 1987, 19-day-old Carlina White was snatched from Harlem Hospital in New York by a woman posing as a hospital worker. Her unmarried young mom and dad, Joy White and Carl Tyson, never stopped hoping she would be found.

Cinderella is a fella in cute teen flick "Rags"

Right up front, the narrator of "Rags" (8 tonight, Nickelodeon) tells you you are about to watch a fairytale, which is a good move because much of what follows afterward is implausible, albeit cute and sweet.

The narrator also tells you that what you'll be seeing is a twist on the story of Cinderella, which I think even this young audience could have figured out. That narrator turns out to be the Cinderfella; he's Charlie Prince (get it?), a talented singer and dancer (played by Max Schneider) who dreams of showing his stuff. Sadly, his mom has died leaving him with a mean stepfather and two less talented stepbrothers (Keenan Tracey & Burkely Duffield) who stepdad wants to be stars. Charlie cleans the nightclub his mother loved while being pushed around by bad dad (Robert Moloney).
