What to Watch on Wednesday: 'L&O: SVU' gets a hand from 'Criminal Intent' detective

Arrow (8pm, CW) - With the Undertaking only days away, Malcolm dons his black hood to conclude business with seismologist Dr. Brion Markov and his team.

Nature: The Private Life of Deer (8pm, UNC-TV) - Night-vision cameras and GPS tracking equipment provide glimpses into the lives of white-tailed deer, of which some 30 million live in the U.S.

Modern Family (9pm, ABC) - Mitch's ex-boyfriend Teddy (a successful doctor) invites the Pritchett clan to a fundraiser at a roller rink, where Phil gives Gloria skating lessons. Haley gives Alex tips on meeting boys and Cam tries to act relaxed.

Law & Order: SVU (9pm, NBC) - A sniper attacks the NYPD twice, and the shootings appear to be linked to one of Fin's old cases in narcotics. Fin contacts his former partner and Lt. Eames (Kathryn Erbe from "Law & Order: Criminal Intent") assists with the investigation. NBC didn't have any photos of Erbe from tonight's episode, so this is Detective Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Detective Amaro (Danny Pino) being shot at by snipers.

Secrets of the Dead: Death on the Railroad (10pm, UNC-TV) - An investigation into the 1832 deaths of 57 Irish laborers who were laying railroad tracks in Pennsylvania. Cholera was blamed at the time, but modern forensic science sheds light on what really happened.

Nashville (10pm, ABC) - Both Rayna and Juliette score CMA award nominations so Edgehill Records throws them a party. Meanwhile, tension mounts between Gunnar and Will.

Chicago Fire (10pm, NBC) - Severide pushes back in the criminal case against him, antagonizing Chief Boden and gaining an unlikely ally in the process.

Goren and Eames will reunite on "L&O: Criminal Intent"

Much to the delight of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" fans everywhere, Vincent D’Onofrio announced last month that he will return to his role as Detective Bobby Goren for the show's upcoming final season.

Today, USA Network confirmed that Kathryn Erbe will also return as Goren's longtime partner, Detective Alexandra Eames.

D’Onofrio and Erbe left the show at the beginning of Season 9 and Jeff Goldblum took over full time detective duties. No offense to Goldblum, whom we here at Warm TV happen to love, but it just wasn't the same.

Last night began the "L&O: CI" mass exodus

We all knew the departures of beloved detectives Bobby Goren and Alexandra Eames were coming on "Criminal Intent," not to mention the morose Captain Ross. We just didn't know how.

But on last night's season debut (part one of a two-parter), we got one of those answers and also some hints at how some of the other departures will play out.

If you haven't watched yet, serious SPOILERS ahead.

Controversy brews over "Law & Order: CI" exodus

The USA network announced earlier this month that "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" will do some major house cleaning for season nine, dumping the show's original stars Vincent D'Onofrio (Detective Goren) and Kathryn Erbe (Detective Eames), as well as Eric Bogosian (Captain Ross) and Julianne Nicholson (Detective Wheeler).

That's right. Every actor in the photo below is leaving except for Jeff Goldblum (far left).

Even more troubling, now there are reports that one of those characters will be written off in the most final of ways. According to Showbiz411, "L&O: CI" just taped an episode in which one of the departing characters is murdered.
