With Jokinen back, Matsumoto reassigned

The Carolina Hurricanes reassigned forward Jon Matsumoto to the team's AHL affiliate, the Charlotte Checkers on Tuesday.

Matsumoto had been called up on Jan. 7 and played in the Canes last two games.

With forwards Jussi Jokinen and Jiri Tlusty and most recently Ryan Carter out with injuries, Matsumoto followed Charlotte teammates Zach Boychuk and Zac Dalpe in being called up to the Hurricanes.

Matsumoto wish comes true, with a twist

PHILADELPHIA  — Jon Matsumoto couldn't have scripted it any better.

Matsumoto will be making his NHL debut tonight for the Carolina Hurricanes, and making it in the Wells Fargo Center, against the Philadelphia Flyers.

"I always wanted, and always thought my first (NHL) game would be in this building," he said after today's morning skate at the arena. "Turns out it will be."
