Canceled: Jon & Kate Plus Eight (Thank goodness!)

Well, it's about time.

It's certainly not a surprise that TLC has announced that it's ending "Jon & Kate Plus Eight," its little show that became a hit and then a sideshow as Jon & Kate Gosselin's marriage unraveled and the two decided to play their anger out on TV.

The series finale will air Monday at 9 p.m.

Jon Gosselin tries to make you laugh

You're sick of Jon & Kate (the eight remains cute!) and don't think they don't know that. While TLC sues Jon and Jon sues TLC and Kate just tries to salvage her sinking ship by answering your questions, Jon is also using humor to repair his image.

Check out this Funny or Die video:

ABC has two diva interviews tonight: Jon Gosselin and Tyra Banks

ABC has two big diva interviews tonight. First on "Primetime: Family Secrets," Jon Gosselin tells GMA's Chris Cuomo about his marriage to and separation from Kate Gosselin; later on "Nightline," Tyra Banks talks to Cynthia McFadden about some of her successes and controversies.

In the Gosselin "exclusive" interview, Jon isn't wearing an Ed Hardy t-shirt, which is a terrific start. But Jon does tell Chris Cuomo that Kate was verbally abusive to him and that he "despises" her. Cuomo warns him that maybe he shouldn't speak that way about the mother of his children, but Jon doesn't back down.

"Jon & Kate" gang sightsee along Wilmington waterfront

Last night's episode of "Jon & Kate Plus 8" still had Kate and the six youngest kids on vacation in North Carolina. Kate decided to leave Bald Head Island to take just the boys (not sure why -- must have missed that part) into Wilmington to tour the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial.

They ride golf carts to the ferry, which the kids love (our ferries are very cool), and make their way into Southport and Wilmington.

At the Battleship, the boys are all wearing little sailor hats (adorable) and are very excited to go on the boat. They run all over the battleship, climbing ladders and inspecting "giant bullets," and again, it was pretty cute. "It's scary dangerous," one of the boys said. . .

Cops called to disturbance at Jon & Kate home

According to People Magazine, the cops were called to the home of Jon & Kate Gosselin Thursday night, because of an argument between the two.

The report says it was Jon's time with the kids, and that Kate called the home to find out which babysitter was helping him. When she didn't approve of the sitter she went over to the house, but Jon would not let her inside. According to their custody agreement, Kate is not allowed on the property during Jon's visits.

Kate left the scene in tears. No one was arrested and no word on who made the call to cops.

UPDATE: Apparently, the fight was sparked because Jon called on fellow partier, 23-yr-old . . .

Jon Gosselin's E! interview for tonight is cancelled

Jon Gosselin's interview scheduled for tonight on the E! network has been cancelled.

E! did not give a reason for the cancellation.

Jon was supposed to appear with his pal Kate Major in an interview segment with Ryan Seacrest. Major will still appear.

Kate Gosselin appeared this morning on the "Today" show in an interview with Meredith Vieira and said she was shocked that Jon began dating so quickly after their separation.

Kate Gosselin on "Today" with Meredith Viera

This morning, Kate Gosselin was on "Today" talking with Meredith Viera about her new life, post Jon. I have to say, it was very sympathetic.

She says she's doing "as well as to be expected," and that her focus is the "health and well-being of her children and herself."

She says she feels a lot of failure (unlike Jon, who seems to feeling like he's born again, as a teenage boy apparently) and she says she wants her children to see that everything she's done for them is out of love. She's still wearing her wedding ring for the children, to not upset them.

TLC tosses out Jon & Kate's couch

Jon & Kate Plus 8 begins new episodes on Monday.

So, at the TV Critics Press Tour, TLC President Eileen O'Neill explained how they'll handle the reality couple whose marital woes have made TLC a mint, and Jon & Kate tabloid fodder.

After talking about how over the last four years "we've captured this remarkable family's entertaining chaos," she understated that "this past spring life intervened and the family's status changed. It was certainly something we never expected nor planned to have happen.
But this has resulted in unprecedented television." (Ka-ching!)

"Jon & Kate" takes a break

After racking up more than 10 million viewers of last night's show about Jon and Kate's Gosselin's divorce, TLC is putting 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' on hiatus.

The Los Angeles Times reports that next Monday's clip show, chronicling the highs and lows of the Gosselin 10-year marriage, will have some new footage. But the next all-new episode won't air until Aug. 3.

Apparently the decision didn't come from the family, but from the network.

Six new episodes of the show's 40-episode order have aired. But because of all the drama between the Gosselins, TLC doesn't have enough footage to put together new episodes right now. Apparently the production schedule had become very last minute. The Times reports that episodes this season were often completed as late as the day of airing.

Guess that means the folks over at Raleigh's Trailblazer Studio can catch their collective breath.

Jon & Kate Plus Eight: The divorce episode

It takes a while to get to it, creating an ugly kind of tension, and puts us viewers in the especially ugly position of wondering when the heck the show is going to get to what we came to see: a couple announcing their divorce.

Ugh.
