UNC identifies football players in parking probe

UNC confirmed this afternoon that Greg Little is the former football player who received 93 parking tickets associated with five different vehicles.

Those vehicles had nine different license plates on them, apparently from the use of dealer tags.

Little has declined to comment since last week when — in the wake of a court ruling — the university released public records revealing that some Tar Heels football players had racked up 395 campus parking tickets totaling $13,125 in fines over a three-and-a-half year span.

Yates one of three UNC players drafted on third day

T.J. Yates began his senior season as a question mark and ended it as a fifth-round pick in the NFL draft.

The UNC quarterback went from scapegoat to star in 2010, leading the Tar Heels through an NCAA investigation, both on the field as the school's first 3,000-yard passer, and off the field as a leader and team spokesman with the media.

White, Pianalto unlikely to play in bowl for Tar Heels

CHAPEL HILL — As much as North Carolina's T.J. Yates would like to play his final college game with Johnny White and Zack Pianalto, Yates doesn't expect any sudden returns from either injured senior.

UNC's Music City Bowl date with Tennessee is Dec. 30, which is in the range of a return for White, from a broken collarbone, or Pianalto, from a broken leg.

UNC's Houston might return against Virginia Tech

It's possible that running back Ryan Houston might play against Virginia Tech on Saturday, UNC coach Butch Davis said today.

Houston, the team's leading rusher in 2009, has not played this season, missing the first five games because of the NCAA investigation. Houston had planned to redshirt the season before starter Johnny White was injured against Florida State last Saturday.

Injury ends White's season

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The only bad news from UNC's 37-35 win at Florida State was the loss of running back Johnny White.

White, a senior, will miss the rest of the season after breaking his right clavicle in the second quarter on Saturday, UNC announced after the game.

Tar Heels pull off wild 37-35 win at FSU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Wide right.

That's normally reserved for Florida State's series with Miami but the University of North Carolina will remember its own version after an historic win at Doak Campbell Stadium.

Florida State kicker Dustin Hopkins missed a 40-yard field goal wide right in the final seconds as UNC held on for a wild 37-35 win.

White leads UNC to 21-16 win over Clemson

CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina lost another player to an NCAA investigation on Saturday.

As long as the Tar Heels don't lose Johnny White, they'll be alright.

White rushed for two touchdowns and set up the third in UNC's unconventional 21-16 win over Clemson at Kenan Stadium.

No injury updates on UNC's Sturdivant or White

CHAPEL HILL — North Carolina lost running back Johnny White in the third quarter and linebacker Quan Sturdivant in the fourth to injuries in Saturday's 17-13 win at Rutgers.

UNC coach Butch Davis didn't know if either starter would be able to play against East Carolina this week.

Injuries adding up for UNC

In addition to the 13 players that missed UNC's opener against LSU, the Tar Heels also have injuries to deal with before their next game on Sept. 18.

Cornerback Mywan Jackson, who was starting in place of the suspended Kendric Burney, suffered a concussion againt LSU in the first half. He did not practice Tuesday and wont' practice today, UNC coach Butch Davis said today on the ACC teleconference.
