Submitted by brookecain on 06/16/2011 - 00:48
Even though "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" only started 5 minutes late Wednesday night (due to the last game of the Stanley Cup Finals), I knew we were in trouble at 12:20 a.m. when Leno was still on his first guest, Blake Lively, and he still had Blake Shelton to go before getting to Scotty McCreery.
So this recap was written while I was sleepy and hatin' on Jay Leno.
Blake Shelton hit the couch at 12:28, so that means he and Scotty get to split about 12 minutes, not counting commercials. Woo-hoo, thanks Jay!
UPDATED: Scotty McCreery visits with Leno, Regis, and others

The talk show rounds begin!
Scotty McCreery will be a guest tonight on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
UPDATED - There has been a scheduling change and "Idol" runner-up Lauren Alaina will be on "Leno" tonight without Scotty, but Scotty will hit the show soon. We'll keep you updated here as soon as "The Tonight Show" releases that info. Sorry for anyone who unnecessarily DVRs "Leno" -- we know how painful that can be. But you still get Lauren!
Scotty is also slated to appear on "Live with Regis & Kelly" on Tuesday, May 31. That show airs on WTVD at 9 a.m.
Next Thursday (June 2) Scotty and Lauren will both sing for the "Today" show Summer Concert Series. "Today" starts at 7 a.m. on NBC and goes until 11 a.m.
We'll post it here if we learn of any other appearances. I'm sure he'll be on the "Ellen" show at some point.
"Conan" debut: It's the Conan we know and love

The Bearded One is back.
After an extraordinary amount of hype, Conan O'Brien returned to late last night, debuting his new 11 p.m. talk show on TBS.
No surprise here, but "Conan" is a lot like O'Brien's old shows ("Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien") -- and that's not a bad thing. I loved those old shows, and there's really no reason I can think of for him to drastically change a formula that his loyal Team Coco adores.
In his first episode (titled "Baa Baa Blackmail" -- each episode will be named), O'Brien made a lot of self-deprecating jokes about his infamous dismissal from NBC and about being on basic cable (also not a surprise). His sidekick Andy Richter was back, and really funny (on the couch where he belongs instead of behind a podium). The Basic Cable Band sounded good, and guests Seth Rogan, Lea Michelle, and Jack White -- all good. O'Brien even played a number with White, and you could tell he was having a blast.
In short, the first five minutes of "Conan" -- a short film recounting the upheaval at NBC and his path to TBS -- were funnier than five years of "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."

Geomagic's Fu jokes with Jay Leno

Ping Fu's visit to Jay Leno's Garage is now online.
The CEO of Geomagic, a Research Triangle Park company that sells software capable of creating realistic 3-D models, was invited to the talk-show icon's garage, which houses his collection of classic cars.
Leno wanted to showcase "homegrown" tech companies and demonstrate how "American ingenuity is alive, kicking and awesome."
Geomagic's Ping Fu dazzles Jay Leno

Ping Fu's globetrotting and hobnobbing continues.
In January, the CEO of Geomagic visited the Obamas at the White House and attended the President's State of the Union. Last month, she attended a tech conference in Lake Tahoe, where CNBC named Geomagic one of four tech companies to watch. This week, she hung out with late-night icon Jay Leno at his "Big Dog Garage" in Southern California.
Leno and NBC invited Fu and officials from several other tech companies to the garage, which holds his huge car collection. He's repairing a 1920s Dusenberg and wanted to show how technology can be used to fix classic cars, Fu said.
Chris Rock to Leno: "Did that redhead guy take Kevin?" (VIDEO)

Chris Rock was pretty hilarious last night giving Jay Leno a hard time about all the changes at "The Tonight Show," starting with the question of "the redhead guy" who was there last time Rock was a guest. Leno kept trying to change the subject, but Rock was driving that train.
At one point Rock asked Leno, "Did the redhead guy take Kevin?" Leno told him no, Kevin Eubanks was somewhere "working with kids." Rock: "Kids?! Stop it! Y'all done fired Kevin and got a cheaper brother to take his place!"
Is anyone funnier than Chris Rock? Watch the video below:
WHCD: Obama funny, Leno not (VIDEO)

Last night was the annual White House Correspondents Dinner and it turns out even Barack Obama is funnier than Jay Leno.
Leno made easy, predictable jokes about John McCain being old, Toyotas being unsafe and Joe Biden being a bit wacky. Obama, who spoke just before Leno, poked a little fun at the late night talk show host, and also at GOP Chairman Michael Steele and Sarah Palin. His material was better and so was his delivery. If you'd like to see for yourself, check out the video below.
Conan O'Brien speaks! First look.

Conan O'Brien's departure contract with NBC prohibited him from speaking about the NBC mess on television or in print until May 1. Well, guess what. It's May 1.
That means CBS was able to release a portion of his upcoming "60 Minutes" interview, which airs tomorrow night (7pm).

What to Watch on Saturday: Zach Galifianakis SNL repeat
Submitted by brookecain on 05/01/2010 - 08:30Meet the Fockers (8pm, ABC) - The sequel to "Meet the Parents," starring Ben Stiller, Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman, Blythe Danner, Owen Wilson and Barbra Streisand. It has moments...
White House Correspondents Dinner (9pm, MSNBC) - Jay Leno hosts this annual dinner attended by Washington insiders, celebrities, and the President. Don't expect any controversial or watercooler stuff from Jay.
Dr. Who (9pm, BBC America) - Dr. Who and Amy meet Winston Churchill on a trip back to World War II, where they also encounter Daleks.
Saturday Night Live (11:30pm, NBC) - North Carolina native Zach Galifianakis (right) hosted "Saturday Night Live" earlier this year and it was one of the best SNL episodes of the entire season. Please stay up till the end and watch Zach as the host of a talk show about pageants. Seriously. You'll thank me later. Plus, Vampire Weekend performs.
