Defensive lapse lands Harrow on State's bench

Freshman guard Ryan Harrow played more minutes and was more productive than senior guard Javier Gonzalez for N.C. State in a 75-66 loss at Boston College on Tuesday night.

The freshman found himself on the bench for a key sequence in the second half, though, because of a defensive lapse, Wolfpack coach Sidney Lowe said.

Down a 60-57 after a Tracy Smith beat Josh Southern in the post at 4:20, Boston College ran a high ball screen for senior guard Biko Paris. Harrow got lost on the screen and Paris drained an open 3 at 4:03 to tie the game at 60.

Bad day for Gonzo

Poor, Javi.

He gets benched (again), is reduced to 21 minutes behind Julius Mays and then to add insult to injury, the Minister's grandson just annihilates him with this dunk.

Pack needs Horner and Gonzalez

Dennis Horner and Javier Gonzalez combined to score two points in 23 minutes for N.C. State in Saturday's 73-70 loss to Clemson.

Wolfpack coach Sidney Lowe said he needs more from the two starters who are averaging a total of 21.4 points per game.

N.C. State 75, Georgia Southern 57

RALEIGH -- Georgia Southern shot two airballs and missed two layups, on the same possession, in the first 3 minutes of Saturday's game against N.C. State.

That about sums up the level of competition the Wolfpack is up against at Reynolds Coliseum. State wasn't much better but the out-manned Eagles, 75-57.

Observations from Red-White scrimmage

Foul Shots: Feb. 21

Roy Williams: While not appropriate, Ol' Roy's post-game profanity was a genuine moment of honesty and the media highlight of the season.

If UNC, the ACC and the FCC — and Roy sure put the "F" in FCC? — doesn't have a problem with it, neither does Foul Shots.

The only person who objected was Butch Davis, who was so embarrassed for the university, he kicked three more players off the football team.
