Live updates from the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards

The 63rd annual Emmy Awards, hosted by "Glee" star Jane Lynch, gets going tonight at 8 p.m. on FOX. Check back here after 8 for live updates from the show.

If you want to get started early, there's a live backstage webcast from the Emmy website starting at 5 p.m. A Red Carpet show starts at 5 p.m. on the E! channel.

Here's a full list of nominees, which include former Raleighites Michael C. Hall and Evan Rachel Wood. Hall is nominated for his starring role in Showtime's "Dexter," and Wood, who has a recurring role as the campy Vampire Queen of Louisiana in HBO's "True Blood," is nominated for her supporting role in the HBO miniseries "Mildred Pierce." Wood has an excellent shot at winning. We're pulling for both of them!

Recap below.

First, check out this photo gallery from the show and this one from the Red Carpet.

Garrett, one of the toughest female jail deputies in the show's history. When Jose refuses to follow an order, Sgt. Garrett makes it her mission to break him down. Here's a video sneak peek.

Rookie Blue (10pm, ABC) - Swarek runs a stakeout to keep an Asian gang from killing an informant, and Dov and Gail are assigned to assist him. Meanwhile, Andy and Chris join the Division 27 rookies in an equine competition.

What to Watch on Friday: Thanksgiving with the President

TV's Funniest Moments: A Paley Center Special (8pm, Fox) - Jane Lynch counts down 30 memorable TV moments, including scenes from "Cheers," "Family Guy," and "Friends."

Happy Feet (8pm, ABC) - The tap-happy romp (Best Animated Feature Oscar winner) about a penguin colony that finds its mates through song, and an outcast who can't carry a tune but can dance like Fred Astaire (or Savion Glover, whose movements were replicated using motion-capture filming). Features the voices of Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, and Brittany Murphy.

Rock Docs: Shine A Light (9pm, VH1) - In this edited version of a feature film directed by Martin Scorcese, the Rolling Stones perform at New York City's Beacon Theatre in 2006.

Sanctuary (10pm, Syfy) - An anonymous call for help brings Magnus, Will and Kate to an eerie, abandoned building, where Magnus encounters a violent assailant.

Another NC politician dinged on "Saturday Night Live"

John Edwards has to feel a teeny bit relieved that this time around, he was not the North Carolina politician getting the unflattering face time on "Saturday Night Live."

During SNL's "Weekend Update" segment last night, Seth Meyers said this:

"North Carlolina State Representative Larry Brown created a controversy this week when he sent an email to other lawmakers referring to homosexuals as 'queers' and 'fruit loops.' And the 'Larry Brown Gets Caught with a Male Escort Countdown' begins now!"

Jane Lynch's SNL promo (VIDEO)

Jane Lynch ("Glee") is hosting "Saturday Night Live" this weekend. I have high expectations, even though this promo with Fred Armisen is underwhelming to say the least.

Jane Lynch to host SNL

Big news to fans of "Glee" -- and to fans of just plain funny: Movieline.com reports that Jane Lynch will host "Saturday Night Live" on October 9th!

Lynch plays the acerbic cheerleading sponser Sue Sylvester on the Fox hit, and she's also pretty well known for comic roles in movies such as "Best in Show" and "The 40 Year Old Virgin."

Okay, SNL writers. Bring your "A" game!

Speaking of Carol Burnett ("Glee" news!)...

Speaking of Carol Burnett, Michael Ausiello at Entertainment Weekly reported this morning that Burnett has been tapped to play Sue Sylvester's Nazi-hunting mother on Fox's "Glee." Sue Sylvester is played by Jane Lynch. Perfection!

Jane Lynch spoofs the iPhone (VIDEO)

Check out this hilarious spoof of an iPhone commercial from Jane Lynch, maybe better known as Sue Sylvester from "Glee." This is good stuff ("How not to dress like you're best friends with 'E.T.' - there's an app for that.").

What to Watch on Wednesday: Mario Lopez returns to Nip/Tuck

Glee (9pm, Fox) - Now that Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch, right) is
co-director of the glee club, she immediately begins working to tear
the group apart from the inside. When the competition in the club gets
too heated, Sue and Will get called into Principal Figgins' office. Meanwhile, the members rally around Quinn and offer her their support.

Modern Family (9pm, ABC) - Shelley Long ("Cheers") guest stars as Jay's ex-wife, who shows up unexpectedly to make amends for an unfortunate incident at Jay and Gloria's wedding.

Nip/Tuck (10pm, FX) - I guess in an economic downturn, boob jobs and tummy tucks get put on the back burner. That's why things aren't great at McNamara/Troy, and also why it's a good thing Dr. Mike Hamoui (Mario Lopez) has returned to LA with a very profitable niche specialty. I'm not sure exactly what that might be, but the photo at left (yes, it's from "Nip/Tuck") is  intriguing. Tonight is the season 6 premiere.

Top Chef Las Vegas (10pm, Bravo) - Tonight's theme involves "pork and wine." I'm going to go ahead and place my money on Kevin from Atlanta on acing this one.
