What to Watch on Wednesday: Shatner on 'Psych'; 'Cleveland' returns

Muppets Letters to Santa (8pm, CW) - The Muppets unwittingly prevent three letters from reaching Santa Claus, so Kermit and his pals attempt to deliver the messages themselves. Guest stars include Whoopi Goldberg, Uma Thurman, and Nathan Lane.

Christmas in Rockefeller Center (8pm, NBC) - Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie host the 79th lighting of the Christmas tree in Manhattan's Rockefeller Center.

Ricochet (9pm, TNT) - A detective (John Corbett) gets swept up in betrayal, corruption and murder in upper-crust Savannah when he investigates a crooked judge (Gary Cole) and falls into a dangerous liason with the judge's trophy wife (Julie Benz). Based on a novel by Sandra Brown. Solid cast but Adrienne says it's pretty awful.

I Hate My Teenage Daughter (9:30pm, Fox) - The debut of a new pilot about two single moms (Jaime Pressly, Katie Finneran) who are best friends struggling to raise their spoiled, mean-girl teenage daughters. It's surprisingly bad.

Grammy Nominations Concert (10pm, CBS) - LL Cool J hosts the hour, which includes performances by Lady Gaga, Ludacris, Sugarland, Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna, Usher, the Band Perry, and Jason Aldean.

Psych (10pm, USA) - Juliet's estranged con-man father (William Shatner) tries to mend fences with his daughter. But his commitment to staying on the right side of the law is tested when a perfect con opportunity presents itself.

Hot in Cleveland (10pm, TV Land) - In the Season 3 premiere, Elka (Betty White) faces a choice of three suitors: her fiance (Buck Henry), her ex-boyfriend (Carl Reiner), and the husband she thought was dead (Don Rickles).

The Exes (10:30pm, TV Land) - A new sitcom in which two divorced men live in the same apartment building as their lawyer, who also happens to be their landlord. The lawyer/landlord forces a new roommate on them. Hilarity ensues?

'I Hate My Teenage Daughter': Jaime Pressly deserves better

Jaime Pressly has an Emmy under her belt and Broadway star Katie Finneran has two Tony Awards.

Yet, these two accomplished actresses have somehow gotten stuck with what might be the worst new show of the fall season.

"I Hate My Teenage Daughter," a Fox sitcom about two best friends who were losers in high school and are now tormented by their popular, mean-girl teen daughters, is so atrocious that it actually makes me feel sad.

Pressly, who won a much-deserved Emmy in 2007 for her role as Joy on "My Name is Earl," makes the most of what she's given here -- which isn't much. But Finneran has the worst of the bargain, given a histrionic character so emotionally insecure that she has to cram food into her face at the slightest sign of stress.

Canceled: Fox kills three shows. Poor Christian Slater...

Fox will not be picking up more episodes of "Human Target" or "Breaking In."

The sitcom "Breaking In" was Christian Slater's third attempt at leading a hit TV show. Action drama "Human Target" has aired for two seasons and starred Mark Valley as a high stakes bodyguard. Both shows were considered bubble shows at Fox. Other bubble shows with worrisome futures are "Chicago Code" and "Lie To Me." Of all these shows, "Chicago Code" is the only one I'll miss.

UPDATE: Yikes, that was fast! "Chicago Code" has also been canceled. Dang it!

In other Fox news, NC native Jaime Pressly will head a new sitcom for the network next fall. "I Hate My Teenage Daughter" is about two women who were tormented by mean girls when they were younger. It's from the same folks who brought us "New Adventures of Old Christine."

Jaime Pressly lands new sitcom pilot for Fox

Deadline.com is reporting that Kinston native and former 'My Name is Earl' star Jaime Pressly has been signed to co-star in a new multi-camera sitcom pilot for Fox called, 'I Hate My Teenage Daughter.'

According to Deadline, the project is produced by Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer and follows two women who now have daughters just like the mean girls who bullied them in high school. Katie Finneran also stars.

Jaime Pressly rebounds with guest spot on "Raising Hope"

Things haven't been going so great for Jaime Pressly lately.

The Kinston native was arrested and charged with a DUI last month, just before announcing she was divorcing her husband of 13 months.

So we've been starving for some happy Pressly news, and here it is: Pressly will be making a guest appearance on Fox's "Raising Hope" soon, along with fellow "My Name is Earl" co-star Ethan Suplee (who played Randy).

Jaime Pressly files for divorce

Actress Jaime Pressly has filed for divorce from her husband Simran Singh after 15 months of marriage.

The papers were files in Los Angeles Superior Court on December 27. Pressly, a Kinston native, cited irreconcilable differences.

Singh is an entertainment lawyer. Pressly has a 3-year-old son with Eric Cubiche, but she and Singh have no children together.

Pressly, best known for her work on the NBC sitcom "My Name is Earl," was arrested for DUI earlier this month.

Jaime Pressly arrested on suspicion of DUI

TV Guide is reporting that actress Jaime Pressly was arrested last night on suspicion of DUI.

The Kinston native and former co-star of "My Name Is Earl" was taken into custody in Santa Monica, California, after police performed a field sobriety test.

No word at the moment on whether or not Pressly was released or if she's still in custody. Her bail had been set at $15,000.

Pressly received two Emmy nominations for her role as Joy on "My Name is Earl," and she won the Emmy in 2007. She published a memoir early in 2009 called "It's Not Necessarily the Truth: Dreaming Bigger Than the Town You're From."

"Sandra Brown's Smoke Screen" can't hide that it's bad

Happiness always gets a little excited when we see N.C. talent on TV. So there was some delight in finding that Jaime Pressly ("My Name is Earl") was starring in "Sandra Brown's Smoke Screen" (Lifetime Movie Network, 8 tonight). The Kinston native is an Emmy winner, after all.

Too bad it's a dog of a film.

Pressly is Britt Shelley, a star TV reporter in Charleston, South Carolina (although since I have family in Charleston, I can tell you the setting looks NOTHING like Charleston, and is in fact, Vancouver), who wakes up in bed next to a naked dead police detective.

She can't remember how she got there, and becomes the prime suspect. Raley (Currie Graham), a former best friend of the victim hears about the death, and is shocked.

Jaime Pressly signed for new sitcom pilot

Emmy-winning Kinston native and former "My Name is Earl" star Jaime Pressly has signed on to do a new sitcom pilot for CBS.

The pilot isn't yet named, but it's from Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the creators of the very funny "How I Met Your Mother," which is also on CBS. The sitcom will focus on a young unmarried couple (Tommy and Gina) and their friends in Pittsburgh.

According to TV Guide, Pressly will play a veterinarian who works with Tommy (Kyle Bornheimer from "Worst Week") at the zoo. Not only does the sitcom have Bays and Thomas going for it, it's also being co-written by two writers from "HIMYM."

Pressly won the Emmy for playing Joy Farrah Darville Hickey Turner on "Earl" in 2007, and got great reviews for her part in the 2009 bromance comedy, "I Love You Man."

Launch My Line: Bravo tries another fashion show

Since "Project Runway" went to Lifetime, poor little Bravo has been struggling to replace that fashionable buzz.

In May, they launched "The Fashion Show" with Isaac Mizrahi and it got mostly panned. People thought it was dull and no "Project Runway"; then "Project Runway" finally aired and it was a mess and no "Project Runway."

Tonight Bravo tries again with "Launch My Line" (11 p.m.), a show that follows professionals established in other fields who decide they want to launch a fashion line.
