Former Methodist University and high school assistant Jon Sherman will be the next head football coach of East Chapel Hill's Wildcats. He has been handling the day-to-day operations of the Wildcat program since Bill Renner announced at the end of the state playoffs that he was stepping down after three years at East.

Jack Britt ended their run with a 60-44 victory in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-A Eastern Regional semifinals at Minges Coliseum Tuesday.
Panther Creek was playing without two top starters and a key reserve for team disciplinary reasons.
