Broughton coach honored by NCHSAA

Broughton High boys and girls soccer coach Izzy Hernandez has been named as one of eight high school coaches in North Carolina who makes a difference.

Hernandez will be one of eight high school coaches presented the annual Homer Thompson Memorial Award by the NCHSAA at its annual meeting on May 5.

First impressions on Jordan & Broughton soccer teams

Last night, Durham Jordan’s soccer team defeated Broughton 2-1 in what has been the biggest match of the season. Although the season is still young, there are a few things to take away from Jordan, the second-ranked team in the state, finding a way to beat Broughton, ranked fourth.

Both teams had multiple opportunities to score, but Jordan’s midfielder Teddy Mullin was able to score on each of his two chances, which was enough for the win. These teams are more than likely to meet later on in the postseason. Here’s what we’ve learned about them after Tuesday.
