What to Watch on Tuesday: Katy Perry heads a night of sitcom guest stars

Raising Hope (8pm, Fox) - Sabrina is arrested at a protest for civil disobedience, but her two-week sentence in jail is made even worse by a prison attendant name Rikki (Katy Perry, right) who claims they're old friends.

I Hate My Teenage Daughter (8:30pm, Fox) - I thought this got canceled, but I guess it was just resting because it's back after a break. Tonight, Annie (Jaime Pressly) tries to set a good example for her slack daughter by returning to school at a local community college. A much better bet at 8:30 would be ...

Cougar Town (8:30pm, ABC) - Bobby falls for Travis' photographer professor (Sarah Chalke, "Scrubs") and Laurie begins a romance via Twitter with a soldier in Iraq. This episode was directed by Courtney Cox.

Jane By Design (9pm, ABC Family) - In the first season finale, Jane prepares for Fashion Week but she may have to bail on her coworkers since Ben knows about her secret.

Breaking In (9:30pm, Fox) - In the Season 2 premiere, Oz has to sell Contra Security, but Cameron, Cash and the gang aren't sure what to make of the unhinged new boss (Megan Mullally).

Southland (10pm, TNT) - Lydia and Ruben probe the death of a nanny and the children who were under her care are missing. Also, John corners Tang about coming free about last week's shooting.

Justified (10pm, FX) - A shocking murder puts Raylan in a very tight spot and forces him to face past mistakes. Meanwhile, Boyd clashes with Harlan's corrupt sheriff.

'I Hate My Teenage Daughter': Jaime Pressly deserves better

Jaime Pressly has an Emmy under her belt and Broadway star Katie Finneran has two Tony Awards.

Yet, these two accomplished actresses have somehow gotten stuck with what might be the worst new show of the fall season.

"I Hate My Teenage Daughter," a Fox sitcom about two best friends who were losers in high school and are now tormented by their popular, mean-girl teen daughters, is so atrocious that it actually makes me feel sad.

Pressly, who won a much-deserved Emmy in 2007 for her role as Joy on "My Name is Earl," makes the most of what she's given here -- which isn't much. But Finneran has the worst of the bargain, given a histrionic character so emotionally insecure that she has to cram food into her face at the slightest sign of stress.

What to Watch on Wednesday: Shatner on 'Psych'; 'Cleveland' returns

Muppets Letters to Santa (8pm, CW) - The Muppets unwittingly prevent three letters from reaching Santa Claus, so Kermit and his pals attempt to deliver the messages themselves. Guest stars include Whoopi Goldberg, Uma Thurman, and Nathan Lane.

Christmas in Rockefeller Center (8pm, NBC) - Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie host the 79th lighting of the Christmas tree in Manhattan's Rockefeller Center.

Ricochet (9pm, TNT) - A detective (John Corbett) gets swept up in betrayal, corruption and murder in upper-crust Savannah when he investigates a crooked judge (Gary Cole) and falls into a dangerous liason with the judge's trophy wife (Julie Benz). Based on a novel by Sandra Brown. Solid cast but Adrienne says it's pretty awful.

I Hate My Teenage Daughter (9:30pm, Fox) - The debut of a new pilot about two single moms (Jaime Pressly, Katie Finneran) who are best friends struggling to raise their spoiled, mean-girl teenage daughters. It's surprisingly bad.

Grammy Nominations Concert (10pm, CBS) - LL Cool J hosts the hour, which includes performances by Lady Gaga, Ludacris, Sugarland, Lupe Fiasco, Rihanna, Usher, the Band Perry, and Jason Aldean.

Psych (10pm, USA) - Juliet's estranged con-man father (William Shatner) tries to mend fences with his daughter. But his commitment to staying on the right side of the law is tested when a perfect con opportunity presents itself.

Hot in Cleveland (10pm, TV Land) - In the Season 3 premiere, Elka (Betty White) faces a choice of three suitors: her fiance (Buck Henry), her ex-boyfriend (Carl Reiner), and the husband she thought was dead (Don Rickles).

The Exes (10:30pm, TV Land) - A new sitcom in which two divorced men live in the same apartment building as their lawyer, who also happens to be their landlord. The lawyer/landlord forces a new roommate on them. Hilarity ensues?

Canceled: Fox kills three shows. Poor Christian Slater...

Fox will not be picking up more episodes of "Human Target" or "Breaking In."

The sitcom "Breaking In" was Christian Slater's third attempt at leading a hit TV show. Action drama "Human Target" has aired for two seasons and starred Mark Valley as a high stakes bodyguard. Both shows were considered bubble shows at Fox. Other bubble shows with worrisome futures are "Chicago Code" and "Lie To Me." Of all these shows, "Chicago Code" is the only one I'll miss.

UPDATE: Yikes, that was fast! "Chicago Code" has also been canceled. Dang it!

In other Fox news, NC native Jaime Pressly will head a new sitcom for the network next fall. "I Hate My Teenage Daughter" is about two women who were tormented by mean girls when they were younger. It's from the same folks who brought us "New Adventures of Old Christine."

Jaime Pressly lands new sitcom pilot for Fox

Deadline.com is reporting that Kinston native and former 'My Name is Earl' star Jaime Pressly has been signed to co-star in a new multi-camera sitcom pilot for Fox called, 'I Hate My Teenage Daughter.'

According to Deadline, the project is produced by Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer and follows two women who now have daughters just like the mean girls who bullied them in high school. Katie Finneran also stars.
