The national coupon forums are abuzz right now with talk of special coupon promotions at Harris Teeter, starting Wednesday, Oct. 31.

So much so that I thought I'd better give you all the heads up so you have the weekend to clip and file your coupons.

There seems to be a consensus on the national coupon sites that most stores, including those in the Triangle, will host a Super Doubles event, which means coupons with a face value of $2 and under will double.

There is some talk of a "Super Triples" event happening in select areas, especially in Charlotte where a Publix store is opening. Publix, by the way, is a Florida-based grocery chain similar to Harris Teeter with generous coupon promotions. This would be an extraordinarily generous promotion -- with coupons of $1 or less in value tripling -- and has not been confirmed.

If the rumors on the national coupon forums prove true, we will be having dueling special coupon events this week.

Word is that Lowes Foods will have a Super Double event starting Wednesday, July 25, with Harris Teeter hosting a Triples event beginning the same day.

It's not official, but avid couponers on the national couponing forums are posting that Harris Teeter will host a Super Double coupon event starting Wednesday, June 20.

It looks like Harris Teeter may be having a Triple Coupon promotion starting next Wednesday, May 16.
