Bart Simpson introduced to the world 25 years ago today

"The Simpsons" already surpassed TV Legend status back in February when it aired its 500th episode on Fox. Today, the show (or at least, the characters on the show) reach another milestone: April 19, 1987 marks 25 years since the Simpson family of Springfield first appeared on television during an episode of the "The Tracey Ullman Show."

In all, 48 video shorts featuring Homer and Bart and the rest of the yellow-skinned clan, ran on "The Tracey Ullman Show" until the cartoon family got their own show on Fox. "The Simpsons" premiered on December 17, 1989.

To mark today's anniversary, we give you Duke professor Harris Cooper, an expert on education policy who happens to also be a bit of an expert on "The Simpsons."

The Simpsons' Treehouse of Horror won't give you chills

Halloween has passed which means it's time for The Simpsons' 21st annual "Treehouse of Horror" (Fox, 8 tonight).

This year, the animated series presents three shorts based on movies. The first is about Marge's effort to get Bart and Milhouse away from violent video games by encouraging them to play a good old-fashioned board game.

When they choose one with Satan in the title (because it must be good if Satan is in the title), they end get sucked into an alternative universe where board games come to life.

NC man plays a part in "The Simpsons" celebration

The Simpsons, you might have heard, are celebrating 20 years on the air.

So tonight at 8, Fox is celebrating with the 450th episode, followed by (8:30) a documentary by Morgan Spurlock called "The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: In 3-D! On Ice!"

"Once Upon A Time in Springfield" is a pretty typical Simpsons episode, centering on Krusty the Clown finding love after network folk force a princess on his show (voiced by Anne Hathaway) to get more little girl viewers.

"The Simpsons": Treehouse of Horror XX

Is it the 20th anniversary of "The Simpsons" annual Halloween episode already?

While I've often not found the trio of shorts as funny as a typical episode, they are awfully fun, and this one keeps up the tradition.

It airs tonight at 8.

Marge Simpson: Bart will never learn of my Playboy spread

Playboy is having a lot of fun with their November issue featuring Marge Simpson on the cover.

Done to celebrate "The Simpsons" on its 20th anniversary, the issue is sure to be a collectors edition.

In a press release, Playboy found Hugh Hefner said this:

"Marge Simpson is the quintessential girl next door who stole our hearts 20 years ago and has held them captive ever since.
