Faucet tech: Pfrustrating repair...yes I said Pfrustrating
Submitted by matthewfortner on 09/07/2011 - 07:36
I'll admit this is a bit of a rant. The company that is the target is not alone so I won't name the company specifically, but you might… Pfigure it out if you are Pfamiliar with home plumbing products.
We had a leaky Pfaucet. Pfoolisfly, I thought the repair would be cheap and easy -maybe replace a rubber washer or an o-ring.
Cheap and easy, right? Well it wasn't hard nor was it all that expensive. But it cost about Pforty times more than it should have.
At the end of the aisle, I thumbed through the many racks of rubber replacement parts.
Looking pretty obvious that I was not Pfinding what I was looking for, a helpful employee broke the bad news to me.
Rather than replace just the Pfaulty gasket, I had to replace the Pfull valve assembly.
So instead of a Pfew cents, I had to Pfork over $13.
I've run into this a good bit with automotive and electronics repairs. But a Pfaucet?
Maybe it is the cost of manufacturing versus repair?
