Green Hope hires Lauren Nosal as its swimming coach

Green Hope has announced Lauren Nosal as its new swimming coach. Nosal replaces coach Richard Wesendunk.

Raleigh Charter, Carrboro win 1A/2A swim regional

Two defending state champions looked the part in Saturday evening's 1A/2A East swimming regional, as the Raleigh Charter girls and Carrboro boys won by landslides.

Leesville Road, Panther Creek win 4A regionals

The Leesville Road boys and Panther Creek girls won the East regional on Saturday afternoon. Leesville's 254 point edged Cap-8 Conference foes Enloe (246) and Millbrook (194). Panther Creek had to fend off members of its own conference as well, as the Catamounts' 288 points bested Green Hope (261.5), Apex (260) and Cary (213).

The day had one major revelation, as Green Hope had four relay teams -- all three boys teams and one girls -- disqualified before competition began.

Greater Neuse all-conference swimming

David Barnes of Clayton was named as the boys swimmer of the year in the Greater Neuse 4-A Conference.

1-A/2-A swimming postponed

The N.C. High School Athletic Association has postponed its 1-A/2-A swimming championships until Monday, Feb. 15. The championships originally were scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13, but were postponed because of the threat of severe weather.

Preliminary swims begin in the morning at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary with the finals now scheduled for 5 p.m., on Monday.

3-A swimming finals moved up

The N.C. High School Athletic Association has moved up the starting time of the 3-A swimming championships because of the threat of severe weather.

The finals will start at 4 p.m. at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.

Glavich, Henry, Bussey, Benson set records

Green Hope's Dom Glavich, Cary's Torrey Bussey, Broughton's Sabrina Benson and West Johnston's Sarah Henry set records in NCHSAA 4-A swimming championships.
