Friday's girls NCHSAA sectional finals
Submitted by jmikeblake on 02/23/2012 - 02:08Girls basketball teams play this Friday with a chance to advance to next week's regionals. Two area Cinderellas are still alive: 12-seed Cary and 11-seed Sanderson, who play at 1-Millbrook and 7-Southern Durham, respectively.
Hillside at Green Hope, a rematch from a second-round thriller from last year, highlights the area games as the two sides are a combined 49-5 this year.
Chapel Hill, Northwood, Jordan-Matthews and Goldsboro are at home in their quests to make regionals, while Bunn and Southern Lee are on the road.
All game times are 7 p.m.
Girls basketball second-round games
Submitted by jmikeblake on 02/21/2012 - 11:16All game times are 7 p.m., unless the school is hosting a doubleheader. Then the girls game will start at 6:30 p.m. and the boys game will start at 8 p.m.
The 11-seed Sanderson girls and 12-seed Cleveland girls will host second-round games even after their upsets in the first round. Also hosting second-round games are: Millbrook, Southeast Raleigh, Green Hope, Hillside, Southern Lee, Northwood, Bunn and Chapel Hill.
Wakefield, Cary, Southern Durham, Riverside, Holly Springs, Bunn, Franklin Academy, Princeton, Granville Central and Chatham Central will all hit the road.
NCISAA basketball playoffs scheduled

The N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association basketball playoffs are set to start, and conclude, this week.
Aside from the opening rounds, which will be played Tuesday at higher seeds, Raleigh is the host of this year's tournaments.
Thursday's second quarterfinals, Friday's semifinals and Saturday's championships will be held at North Raleigh Christian Academy (1A), St. David's School (2A) and Ravenscroft (3A).
Among the top area teams in this year's field: Ravenscroft's boys (2-seed, 3A), Cary Academy girls (5-seed, 3A), Durham's Carolina Friends girls (2-seed, 2A), Cary Christian's girls (5-seed, 2A), Word of God boys (3-seed, 1A), St. David's girls (9-seed, 2A).
