PINEHURST -- Ben Griffin of East Chapel Hill won a dramatic playoff with Greenville Rose's Andrew Decker on Tuesday to take the individual championship in the 75th annual North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 4-A men’s golf championships at Pinehurst No. 6.

NCHSAA golf regionals are scheduled for next Monday, May 2. Pinehurst No. 6 will be the 4-A championship course on May 9-10.

Carrboro golfers dominate Carolina 10 golf.
Leesville Road wins the N.C. High School Invitational golf tournament with a 313, 13 shots ahead of second-place Gastonia Forestview. Grayson Murray posts a 74, four shots ahead of his closest competitor.
The following boys and girls golfers were named to the Carolinas Golf Associaton's all-state teams.
Grant Houser, senior, Holly Springs boys golf
Senior Grant Houser has committed to Campbell. As a junior for Holly Springs, Houser made the Tri-Nine's all-conference team with a 35.9 stroke average per nine holes — good for fourth overall.
J. Mike Blake of The Cary News has reported that David Allen, coach of the Green Hope boys golf team for the last eight years, is stepping down.
Allen's teams won five 4-A team championships, seven conference championships and six regional titles. He coached three different individual 4-A champs: Brendan Todd (2003), Kevin O'Connell (2007) and Mike Cromie (2009).
