Chef Jason Smith plans to open a neighborhood tavern called Harvest 18 - playing off the names of his other restaurants -- near Southpoint Mall in Durham.
The restaurant will be located near Rise donut and biscuit shop on Renaissance Parkway.
Smith's flagship restaurant is 18 Seaboard in downtown Raleigh and his other restaurant is Cantina 18 in Cameron Village. This is Smith's first venture outside of Raleigh.
He envisions the 65-seat restaurant with additional seating for 40 on a patio as a neighborhood tavern. It will be a more casual version of 18 Seaboard with a focus on local food with draft beers, wine and sangria.
He hopes to open the restaurant by the end of the year.
