What to Watch on Friday: Is it the ultimate ending for 'Happy Endings'?

Kitchen Nightmares (8pm, Fox) - Chef Ramsay helps the owners of a Cajun-style restaurant in Nashville, who had to relocate their eatery after Hurricane Katrina and have been unable to rebuild their customer base.

Happy Endings (8pm, ABC) - Back-to-back new episodes close out Season 3. In the first, Penny's mom (Megan Mullally, left) and Dave's dad (Michael McKean, left), who have been dating, visit and announce that they'd like to adopt a baby. In the second, Alex and Jane's older sister, the alpha female, is getting married and Jane is charged with planning the wedding. ABC has not yet announced whether "Happy Endings" will get a fourth season. (Please, ABC!)

30 Days in May (8pm, BET) - Boxer Floyd Mayweather's 2012 stint in jail for domestic battery in an incident involving his ex-girlfriend is chronicled.

Maron (10pm, IFC) - A new series based on the life of comedian and celebrated podcaster Marc Maron. In tonight's opener, an abusive tweeter torments Marc, so he decides to teach the internet troll a lesson. Dave Foley guest stars tonight (future guests include Denis Leary, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott, Jeff Garlin and others). This isn't a particularly strong debut -- Maron seems a little awkward and uncomfortable in the lead actor spot -- but that gets better in later episodes, so definitely check back next week. Blue Bloods (10pm, CBS) - Danny blames himself when a young woman commits suicide because he had made a promise to her in the wake of her parents' death. Meanwhile, violence involving a gang at a housing project erupts and effects the Reagans.

Ke$ha (10pm, Logo) - Ke$ha meets an inspiring fan in Manchester, England, in the opener of this series following the life and career of the pop singer.

What to Watch on Friday: Catch up on shows preempted last week

Note: Some of the shows here were scheduled to air last week and were preempted by live news from Boston.

Happy Endings (8pm, ABC) - Penny's friends are stunned when she rebounds from her breakup by hooking up with the highly unsuitable Car Czar. In the 8:30 episode, Max's former roommate, whose life he ruined, seeks revenge. But then realizes Max's life is so sad that it's not worth wrecking.

Grimm (9pm, NBC) - A volcano threatens to bury Portland in lava, and Adalind gains a new ally. Also, Juliette needs help dealing with multiple memories of Nick (David Giuntoli, far right).

Blood Relatives (9pm, Investigation Discovery) - A down housing market leads to a greed-driven murder in North Carolina.

Touch (9pm, Fox) - Martin takes a big risk by telling his saga to a detective, who is skeptical of the story but believes in him enough to start an investigation.

Shark Tank (9pm, ABC) - The sharks consider a fishing bobber made from a real shotgun shell, and get an update on Billy Blanks Jr. and his "Dance with Me" fitness program.

Blue Bloods (10pm, CBS) - A bewildered man is found in the park covered in his girlfriend's blood, and he claims he has no memory of the events that lead him there. Elsewhere, an off-duty cop catches an armed robber and Jamie helps cover up the officer's intoxicated state.

Al Madrigal: Why is the Rabbit Crying? (11pm, Comedy Central) - Comedian Al Madrigal performs in Austin, where he shares stories about a soccer dad, a cleaning lady and a day laborer.

What to Watch on Friday: Award-winning doc proves rapid Arctic melting

Note: Network broadcasts are subject to change due to breaking news events in Boston. Here's what we know so far about Boston news specials airing tonight.

Chasing Ice (8pm, National Geographic Channel) - An award-winning 90-minute documentary in which environmental reporter and former climate-change skeptic James Balog uses time-lapse techniques to document the rapidly changing Arctic landscape. The videos are the result of Balog's three-year mission to gather undeniable footage of the effects of global warming.

Nikita (8pm, CW) - Nikita is drugged and subjected to Amanda's mental-conditioning process. Meanwhile, Birkhoff and Sean attempt to save the women they love.

Happy Endings (8:30pm, ABC) - Max's former roommate, whose life he ruined, seeks revenge, but realizes that Max's life is so sad it's not worth wrecking. Max then sets out to get his act together with help from Jane. (Note: A new episode also airs at 8).

Vegas (9pm, CBS) - Katherine arrests Dixon after Violet accuses him of assault, while Lena finds the body of a gambler in a suite at the Savoy.

Grimm (9pm, NBC) - A volcano threatens to bury Portland in lava, while Adalind gains a new ally,

Shark Tank (9pm, ABC) - A self-described geek with an idea for made-to-order furniture, and an update on "Scrub Daddy" from Season 4.

Real Time with Bill Maher (10pm, HBO) - Dan Neil, a local automotive columnist who writes for the Wall Street Journal, will be among Maher's guests.

What to Watch on Friday: A not-so-happy ending for Penny

Nikita (8pm, CW) - Owen begins to unlock the secrets from his past, with help from Amanda. Also, Alex tells Birkhoff that she wants to leave Division.

Eve of Destruction (8pm, Reelz) - In part one of a two-part miniseries, two scientists look to space to tap an unlimited energy supply for Earth, but when their experiment is sabotaged by eco-activists, it turns an already risky proposition into one that could mean the end of the planet. Stars Steven Weber. Part airs Saturday night at 8.

Happy Endings (8pm, ABC) - Couples game night at Brad and Jane's turns a tad too competitive, prompting Penny to make a surprise move. Seth Morris guest stars. At 8:30, the gang wonder about Penny's state of mind after a traumatic event, and then get really concerned when they learn she's written a play called "Black Plague: A Love Story."

Vegas (9pm, CBS) - DA Reynolds sweats the idea of a wiretap on Savino's phones, but Ralph, Jack and Katherine expect to use it to their advantage. Later, Mia is shocked when her supposedly deceased mother shows up in town and sets her romantic sights on Savino.

Spartacus: War of the Damned (9pm, Starz) - In the series finale, Spartacus and his outnumbered rebel force prepare for what could be their final, pivotal battle against the Romans.

Da Vinci's Demons (10pm, Starz) - After the "Spartacus" finale, you'll probably want to hang around for the newest Starz series, chronicles the life of Leonardo Da Vinci, but portrays him as a sort of action hero. Stars Tom Riley.

Blue Bloods (10pm, CBS) - Linda stops Danny from questioning a wounded accomplice before surgery, but the patient doesn't survive the procedure, leading to a feud between Linda and Danny concerning protocol.

Out There (10pm, IFC) - After Wayne backs out of participating in a father-son event, Chad asks Sharla's dad to fill in.

What to Watch on Friday: Andy Richter as Penny's (young) dad on 'Happy Endings'

Nikita (8pm, CW) - Nikita and Michael learn about a new prosthetic hand that could help Michael return to his old self, but it comes at a steep price.

Profile for Murder (8pm, Lifetime) - A serial killer escapes from prison and stalks the retired criminal profiler who helped put him away.

Happy Endings (8pm, ABC) - Two more "Happy Endings" episodes tonight. In the first, Jane and Alex recommend Max to their longtime hairdresser, who dishes some juicy gossip about the ladies and triggers a sisterly war. In the second, Penny reaches out to her estranged father in advance of her wedding. Andy Richter plays her dad (he's kinda young for that, right?).

Grimm (9pm, NBC) - Rosalee is called up for jury duty and enlists Nick and Hank to stop a Wesen defense attorney from overturning a murder case.

Michael Feinstein's American Songbook (9:30pm, UNC-TV) - Season 3 opens with a look at American musicals with help from Steven Sondheim, Christine Ebersole and Angela Landsbury.

Blue Bloods (10pm, CBS) - Danny investigates a murder in a cemetery and discovers that the victim was a religious woman who was hiding her interfaith romance from her family.

Vice (11pm, HBO) - A new newsmagazine program offering stories from around the world debuts with a visit to the Philippines to examine the violent rivalries that erupt between political opponents. Also, a report on kids who are recuited by the Taliban to be suicide bombers in Afghanistan. Adrienne has a review of "Vice".

What to Watch on Friday: ABC burns off some 'Happy Endings'

NCAA Basketball Tournament (CBS) - The madness continues with the Sweet Sixteen round. Of local interest, Duke plays Michigan State at 9:30 p.m. For more information on all game times and networks, check out our NCAA Tournament channel guide, which has a link to schedules.

Happy Endings (8pm, ABC) - Really, ABC? You're giving "Happy Endings" the old Friday Night Burn-off Treatment? Sigh. Well, two new episodes of "Happy Endings" air tonight. Doubt we're getting another season of this one...

Grimm (9pm, NBC) - Nick and Hank wage a cyber war against at Wesen killer, and Juliette starts to make sense of her hallucinations.

Shark Tank (9pm, ABC) - Pitches include shrink-wrap gift bags and an item that keeps objects from getting lost between the seat and console of your car.

American Masters: Philip Roth - Unmasked (9:30pm, UNC-TV) - a profile of literary lion Philip Roth, interviewed at his New York City apartment and his Connecticut farmhouse. Roth reflects on his New Jersey upbringing, writing process and psychoanalysis, as well as the inspiration behind his most famous characters.

What to watch on Tuesday: Doubled-up sitcoms and old school superheroes

Pioneers of Television: Superheroes (8pm, UNC-TV) - This installment looks back at TV superheroes from bygone eras, including "Superman" from the 1950s, "Batman" from the 1960s, "Wonder Woman" and "The Incredible Hulk" from the 1970s and "The Greatest American Hero" from the 1980s. Interviews with Adam West, Burt Ward, Julie Newmar, Lynda Carter, Lou Ferrigno, William Katt and Robert Culp.

Raising Hope (8pm, Fox) - Oh, these two back-to-back episodes of "Raising Hope" remind us that Fox has canceled "Ben and Kate." [INSERT PREFERRED CURSE WORDS HERE] The first episode is a bit of a weird crossover in which Sabrina's mom hires the "Modern Family" camera crew to film Sabrina's wedding to Jimmy (yep, they get married tonight!). In the second episode, the family takes Hope to Los Angeles for a taping of "Yo Zappa Do," but Jimmy's fear of flying means it's a road trip.

Henry Ford: American Experience (9pm, UNC-TV) - A profile of Henry Ford, the Ford Motor Company founder whose Model T in 1908 changed the auto industry. Ford also instituted the assembly line and investigated his employees through the company's Sociological Department. The documentary also details his anti-Semitism.

Happy Endings (9pm, ABC) - ABC has yanked the cruel-but-funny "Don't Touch the B in Apartment 23" for two new back-to-back episodes of "Happy Endings" from here on out. So it's a bad news/good news kind of thing.

Edge of America (9pm, Travel) - Host Geoff Edgers visits Pennsylvania, where he participates in a demolition derby, a haggis-eating contest, and a zombie-themed foot race.

The New Normal (9:30pm, NBC) - Bryan wishes to have a natural connection to the new baby, whatever that means. Also, Shania is upset to learn that her mother didn't breast-feed her when she was a baby.

Cougar Town (10pm, TBS) - Tom gets a new girlfriend and Bobby tries to improve his table manners on a pretend date with Ellie.

What to Watch on Tuesday: 'Merry Muppet Christmas' and 'The Voice' finale

It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie (8pm, CW) - A friendly angel (David Arquette) shows Kermit that he still has a wonderful life after a bitter banker (Joan Cusack) shuts Muppet Theatre on Christmas Eve. Features Whoopi Goldberg, William H. Macy, Mel Brooks, Kelly Ripa, Jon Stewart and Molly Shannon.

NCIS: Los Angeles (9pm, CBS) - Callen, Sam, Kensi and Deeks spend Christmas aboard an aircraft carrier investigating the death of a fellow NCIS special agent.  

The Voice (9pm, NBC) - The winning vocalist is revealed in the show's Season 3 finale.

Happy Endings (9pm, ABC) - The gang discovers that Jane has been lying about her birthday, and that she was actually born on Christmas but never liked her birthday being trumped by the holiday. With that in mind, they throw her a party that is Christmas-free and all about Jane.

Extreme Couponing (9pm, Discovery Fitness & Health) - In the Season 4 premiere, a Georgia woman hopes to spend as little as $20 on a reception for her vow-renewal ceremony with her husband. Meanwhile, a New York woman tries to make dinner for 16 people in her family for less than $100. In a second episode airing at 9:30, a South Carolina woman compares her excessive coupon-clipping a drug addiction.

Rizzoli & Isles (9pm, TNT) - Jane and Maura tackle the case of a former college football player who was stabbed to death during a fundraiser. Elsewhere, Frost's mother arrives with breaking news, and Lt. Col. Casey Jones runs into Jane.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Get the facts from 'Santa Claus is Comin' to Town'

Raising Hope (8pm, Fox) - Virginia becomes an extreme couponer to stock up on supplies when she believes an apocalyptic prophecy from an ancient calendar, and encourages the whole family to get ready for the end of the world.

Santa Claus is Comin' to Town (8pm, ABC) - As I say each year: This is the highly informative stop-motion documentary of the actual true history of Santa Claus. Featuring the voices of Fred Astaire and Mickey Rooney, and starring Topper the Penguin, Winter Warlock and Burgermeister Meisterburger.

Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa (9pm, CW) - The Muppets unwittingly prevent three letters from reaching Santa Claus, so Kermit and his friends work to deliver the messages to the North Pole. Features Whoopi Goldberg, Nathan Lane, Uma Thurman, Jesse L. Martin and Jane Krakowski.

Happy Endings (9pm, ABC) - Jane and Alex's parents throw a big celebration to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the family mattress business, and Jane agonizes over coming up with an amusing toast to spring on her humorless dad. Meanwhile, Alex's parents are unaware that she and Dave have reunited.

Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23 (9:30pm, ABC) - James makes his debut on "Dancing with the Stars" in Los Angeles. While he's away, Chloe runs a scam out of his New York penthouse.

Parenthood (10pm, NBC) - Adam and Kristina weather a serious health scare, while Sarah feels torn between Mark and Hank. Also, Amber and Ryan encounter obstacles and Zeek tries to redeem a childhood hero.

Vegas (10pm, CBS) - Katherine takes a special interest in the investigation into the rape and murder of a showgirl at the Stargazer Casino, while back at the Savoy, Savino lands an influential high roller and hopes his notoriety will convince other high-stakes gamblers to visit.

What to Watch on Tuesday: Saftey first on 'Happy Endings,' finale for 'Sons of Anarchy'

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (8pm, CBS) - Burl Ives narrates this Christmas classic, first telecast in 1964. It's not officially Christmas until the first Rudolph viewing.

Shark Tank (8pm, ABC) - "Shark Tank" on a Tuesday? What is ABC trying to do to my life?!? I have routines!

Ben and Kate (8:30pm, Fox) - Kate and Will go on a camping trip together, but their romantic getaway is interrupted by some unwelcome guests.

Happy Endings (9pm, ABC) - Penny (Casey Wilson, left) feels that a post-concussion prescription helmet she is wearing is going to head off any chance for romance with a great guy (Nick Zano, left) that she's met. Meanwhile, Jane's efforts to break into the boy's club at the car dealership hit a speed bump, so she turns to "trophy wife" Brad for help.

Go On (9pm, NBC) - The gang throws a party but the bash falls on the same day Mr. K believes the world will end.

Sons of Anarchy (10pm, FX) - In tonight's Season 5 finale, Jax strikes up a new deal while ridding himself of some old problems. (Fingers crossed that "Old Problems" is Clay's nickname.)

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show (10pm, CBS) - If the kiddies are still up and buzzing over the Rudolph broadcast, then … get them to bed, quick!! Rihanna, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars perform as supermodels prance about in their underwear.

Parenthood (10pm, NBC) - Mark grows more frustrated by Sarah's relationship with Hank, whom she's helping to mend fences with his family. Meanwhile, Crosby and Adam fight to save the Luncheonette from the mean lady from "Louie," while also recording an album for Glen Hansard.
