What Evan Rachel Wood wore ...

Looks like Evan Rachel Wood's fashion choices are being noticed. I received a press release today that said Wood, who is from Raleigh, carried the Minerva bag by Raven Kauffman Couture to the HBO season premiere of Curb Your Enthusiasm last night.

The bag's nice and all, but the dress? Wow. Pretty darn smoking hot. (No mention of who she's wearing, btw.)

Redhanded Bags to show at Nolcha Fashion Week in New York

Of course, this news just makes me even sadder that I won't be in New York for all the Fashion Week nuttiness.

Redhanded Bags, which is owned and operated by a really neat couple, Tracy Russomano and Aaron Turney, in Apex, will be showing their eco-friendly, ethics-based spring/summer bags, Sept. 14 at Nolcha Fashion Week in New York at the Ethical Fashion Preview.

Nolcha is an alternative to the bigger, more mainstream Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, showing the work of independent fashion designers.

Read more about Redhanded in the N&O here and here.

(BTW, just love Redhanded's new Maesy bag made from faux ostrich leather! Am a sucker for all orange accessories. And I love the old-school styling on this.)

Holly Aiken in "Cahoots" with new bags

Holly Aiken has again been busy concocting new ideas for handbags in her downtown Raleigh studio.

This time, she's teamed up with two local artists, Paul Friedrich (best known for his Onion Head Monster cartoon) and Michael Salter, an early member of "Team Lump."

She's taken their art and screenprinted some of the pieces on her vinyl handbags to create a new limited-edition line that she's calling Cahoots.

Tonight's the first night to take a peek, all part of the First Friday festivities. But they'll be on sale for the next month. (Same prices as her other bags)

Look for Holly to be in Cahoots again next month with another artist.

Finally! A new style of Holly Aiken handbag

If you've been itching for a new style of Holly Aiken bag, your wait is over.

Holly recently introduced the Gremlin, an even more edgy handbag style from the ones she's already got in her shop.

Truth be told, I spotted an early version of the bag over the holidays and snagged one for my niece for her Christmas present (hope she likes it!). I just loved the grommets, which give it more of an urban feel, and the elongated clutch shape, which is perfect for tucking under your arm when you're out. Oh, and you can get the bag with different colored straps from the bag body. Holly will even sell you another color so you can switch out straps depending on the look you want. The bag also has two interior pockets and snap closure.

The bags cost $86. Get one online or at her shop in downtown Raleigh at the corner of Hargett and Wilmington streets.

(A question I'll have to ask Holly next time I see her ... since her bags mostly have been named for modes of transportation, is this a nod to the AMC Gremlin?)

Target's latest collaboration: Hayden-Harnett

So just how is Target going to top its collection of Anya Hindmarch handbags in stores the last few months?

With what looks to be an even better collection of bags by Hayden-Harnett, already in stores.

Brooklyn-based Hayden-Harnett is the quirky design partnership of Toni Hacker and Ben Harnett. They formed the company in 2005 to create bags that marry utility and form, and the brand quickly became a cult favorite. Bags retail for between $200 and $700.

No doubt one of the best sellers of the dozen styles to pick from at Target will be the flight tote in black (to the left), a look that combines practicality and style. Other silhouettes in the collection include oversized envelope clutches and convertible hobos.

Also expect to see an array of cool hardware, including studs, chains and grommets, that are both practical and functional.

The bags, which are priced from $19.99 to $49.99, will be in stores through March 15.

Marc Jacobs Stam at Uniquities

The highly coveted quilted Stam handbag is now at Uniquities in Cameron Village.

Jaime Goodson, the store manager, says it's among the many Marc Jacobs bags and accessories that have been arriving at the store for fall. Also check out the MJ wallets, clutches and other quilted bag styles.
