In a special two-hour documentary airing tonight, "Black Tide: Voices From the Gulf," Animal Planet and filmmaker Joe Berlinger tell the stories of people and animals living in the aftermath of the devastating BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Animal Planet calls the documentary the story of "devastation, frustration, and survival."

Over the course of a year, Emmy award-winning Berlinger and his crew embedded with people from all walks of life in the affected region  -- fishermen, an oil rig worker, scientific experts, and representatives from BP and the U.S. Government.
