UNC reserves Mularkey and Elleby out for the season

North Carolina reserves Shane Mularkey and Greg Elleby will miss the rest of the 2010 season.

Mularkey, a backup linebacker and key special teams player, had his left shoulder surgerically repaired last Thursday, the school announced on Monday. Mularkey, a sophomore, played in the first two games before the injury.

Sturdivant still ailing, Elleby out for season for Heels

North Carolina's defense lost one reserve, defensive tackle Greg Elleby, for the season and is still without linebacker Quan Sturdivant.

Elleby, a senior, who has been an all-purpose reserve for the Tar Heels, tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee in the second half of UNC's 42-17 win over East Carolina on Saturday and is out for the season.

More changes on UNC's line

North Carolina's patched up offensive line could be missing another piece on Saturday.

Left tackle Kyle Jolly (ankle) will be a game-time decision, UNC coach Butch Davis said Thursday. Jolly and left guard Jonathan Cooper (ankle) were both expected to practice Thursday and will be re-evaluated for Saturday's nonconference game with Georgia Southern.
