Greg Cox reviews bu.ku, formerly Fins

Greg Cox's review today is of bu.ku, the latest endeavor of William D'Auvray, the chef who ran the successful Fins restaurant.

Greg must have liked D'Auvray's experiment with world street food because he gave bu.ku 4 1/2 stars. Read the whole review HERE.

In today's paper: grits, Turkish cooking, Epicurean

In today's paper, I reworked a wire story about grits to include some local folks and share the recipe for Crook's Corner Shrimp and Grits.

I wrote a profile of a group of Turkish women who meet regularly to cook and eat.  (This is part of our Melting Pot series where I try to make sure the food section reflects the culinary diversity of the Triangle. If you would like to suggest someone to be profiled, please e-mail me at andrea.weigl@newsobserver.com)

Greg's Epicurean column is about new Asian restaurants: Spring Rolls in North Hills and  Ichibar in Cary.

And Suzanne Havala Hobbs' On the Table column is about making the workplace a healthy eating environment.

In today's paper: Farmers Markets, Meet Farmer Joe

In today's paper, in case you missed it:

I have a story about the different rules at different farmers markets. We also have an online map of the farmers markets in the Triangle: http://bit.ly/aEgzSJ

I also have a profile of Fred Miller of Hilltop Farms, a former copier salesman who became a farmer. This is the launch of our Meet Farmer Joe profiles for the season.

Greg Cox's Epicurean column is about restuarants on the move or with new locations, including  Pop's, Pop's Backdoor South, Sandwhich, Saffron, The Cary Cafe, Bavarian Brathaus, Chubby's Tacos, Henry's Gelato and Tobacco Road.

Suzanne  Havala Hobbs' On The Table column is about how to lose weight as we approach beach season.

Our wine columnist Catherine Rabb has a roundup of wine festivals across the state, starting this weekend with the Yadkin Valley Wine Festival.

In Today's paper: Magnolia Grill family tree, Epicurean, Sara Moulton

In today's paper, in case you missed it, I wrote a story about chefs Ben and Karen Barker and all the chefs who have gone through their kitchen at Magnolia Grill. If you want to see a pdf of the family tree with everyone's photo, scroll down on the right and look for Related Content.

The Carrboro Farmers' Market is now accepting food stamps, as well as debit and credit cards. Read more HERE

Suzanne Havala Hobbs' On The Table column is about strawberries.

I wrote a story about former Food Network chef Sara Moulton's new cookbook and her upcoming book signings in the Triangle.

Greg Cox's Epicurean column  is about new Italian places all over the Triangle: Il Forno Italian Grill in Holly Springs, Bellini Fine Italian Cuisine in Fuquay-Varina, Piola at North Hills mall in Raleigh and Enzo's Pizza Co. in Durham.

Greg's Hot List: Mother's Day

Greg’s Hot List: Mother’s Day brunch

Treat Mom to brunch at one of these restaurants, and she’s sure to know how much you appreciate all those times she cooked for you. One caveat, though: Area universities traditionally schedule graduation weekend to coincide with Mother’s Day, so many of the best restaurants fill up fast. It’s a good idea to get reservations as soon as possible.
