Carter Jenkins wins Rex Hospital Open junior invitation

Carter Jenkins of Leesville Road won the Rex Hospital Open junior invitation on Sunday by shooting two rounds of 2-under par 69. Jenkins total score of 138 was three strokes better than his Pride teammate Grayson Murray, who won the event last year by having a 5-under-par 66 in his second round.

Leesville Road wins the N.C. High School Invitational golf tournament with a 313, 13 shots ahead of second-place Gastonia Forestview. Grayson Murray posts a 74, four shots ahead of his closest competitor.

The following boys and girls golfers were named to the Carolinas Golf Associaton's all-state teams.

Raleigh golfer advances to U.S. Junior Amateur

Grayson Murray, one of the state's most outstanding young golfers, on Monday won a sectional qualifying tournament and advanced to the 156-player field for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship.

Murray, a Leesville Road High School golfer who last month won the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-A championship, shot a second-round 66 on Monday at Bradford Creek Golf Course in Greenville for a 134 total and a one-stroke victory Jonathan Diianni of Kernersville.

Association 4-A golf championship on Tuesday while Green Hope claimed the
team title.

Murray wins Cap 7 golf award

eesville Road sophomore Grayson Murray is the Cap Seven 4-A golfer of the year. Murray helped Leesville Road clinch a berth in next Monday's N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-A Mid-East regionals.

Murray leads Leesville in Cap Seven golf

Grayson Murray of Leesville Road shot a three-under-par 32 Tuesday at Wildwood Green to lead the Pride to a Cap Seven 4-A golf victory.
Leesville topped runnerup Broughton 140-142.

Leesville Road wins Keith Hills golf

Golfers David Germann and Grayson Murray opened the 2010 season with
impressive performances under chilly conditions at the annual Keith
Hills High School Kickoff on Friday.

Murray, a sophomore at Leesville Road and a Wake Forest recruit, shot a
71 to help lead the Pride to the victory with a team total of 298
strokes.

Germann, also a sophomore, carded a four-under-par 68 for Clayton (301
strokes), who finished in second place. Broughton (302) came in third
place, followed by Pinecrest (306) and last year’s Independent 3A
champion Ravenscroft (307).

Murray, Knox qualify for U.S. Junior Amateur Championship


With two rounds of 67, Raleigh's Grayson Murray won the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship sectional qualifier at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary on Monday, therefore qualifying him for the event which takes place July 20-25.

Joining the rising sophomore at Leesville Road is Andy Knox, a rising senior at Apex High, has qualified for this summer's U.S. Junior Amateur Championship after placing in the top-four at the sectional qualifier yesterday at MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary.

Knox finished third after shooting a 69 in the first round and following that up with a 70 in the second. 

This year's U.S. Junior Amateur Championship will be at Trump National Golf Club at Bedminster, N.J. from July 20-25. 

Also qualifying were Trevor Cone, of Concord, N.C., and Leif Neijstrom of Greensboro. Coalter Paxon IV, from Wilson, and James Ellis, from Greenville, earned alternate spots.
