The Wake County school board’s student achievement committee will tackle magnet schools, Global Schools and STEM schools at today’s meeting.
The committee will get an update on all three programs. There had been some questions among the Democratic board members about how the Global and STEM schools were implemented by former Superintendent Tony Tata.
As for magnet schools, staff will likely update the board on the implementation of the new and revamped programs this school year. Wake is waiting to find out if it will receive one of the federal Magnet School Assistance Program grants.
The committee is also scheduled to discuss which future topics to address.
