Garner grabbed the Greater Neuse River 4-A Conference boys basketball championship with a win at Holly Springs. The Trojans enter the NCHSAA state playoffs as the league's No. 1 seed.
Clayton swept Smithfield-Selma in boys and girls action. The Comet boys enter the league tournament as the No. 3 seed, while Clayton is seeded fourth in the girls' event. SSS's girls will travel to Clayton again on Monday night in a first round GNRC tournament game.
Ayden-Grifton swept North Johnston in boys and girls basketball. But North's boys won the draw for the No. 1 seed in next week's Carolina 1-A Conference tournament. The Panther girls had already clinched the league regular-season title.
We'll have more updates over the weekend as we get league tournament pairings.
