Third-ranked North Carolina hosts top-ranked and defending NCAA champion Notre Dame in a women's soccer match at 7 p.m. Friday at Fetzer Field. It's one of the four matches slated for the 2011 Carolina Nike Classic, to be held Friday and Saturday at Fetzer.
The schedule of games is as follows:
Friday, August 26
5 p.m. -- Duke vs. Houston
7 p.m. - North Carolina vs. Notre Dame
Sunday, August 28
1 p.m. - Duke vs. Notre Dame
3 p.m. - North Carolina vs. Houston
North Carolina will be seeking only its second victory ever over the Fighting Irish at Fetzer Field. Although the Tar Heels are 12-5-2 all-time against the Fighting Irish UNC is only 1-4 in games played at Fetzer Field. The only win came in 1998 by a 5-1 score.
Tickets are now on sale at the Ticket Center at TarHeelBlue.com. Fans are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance to avoid potentially long lines Friday.
