Jason Wu now at Vermillion

Some of the fall looks from the First Lady's inaugural ball gown designer, Jason Wu, are now available in the Triangle. I got a call last night from the owner of Vermillion, Ashley Vermillion Harris, who said the designer is now being carried in the North Hills store.

Wu should likely become a local favorite because of his style of creating clean, classic lines with bright colors, a popular combination in this area. His creations are often described as modern but wearable. Likely he's best known lately, though, for his white, silk-chiffon, one-shoulder gown that Michelle Obama wore to the inaugural balls in January.

Will update more soon on what pieces and styles Vermillion is carrying for fall.

Get an invite to see the new Carlisle and Per Se collections

Interested in seeing the latest from Carlisle? There's a new consultant locally to turn to.

Sally Wooten, who had been a consultant for the Worth Collection, is now carrying Carlisle and its sister line, Per Se. She's getting ready to show the Fall collections of both lines during a trunk show in her Raleigh home.

Here's what Sally has to say about the latest looks: "Casual to cocktail pieces in wonderful colors, loads of dresses, statement
making accessories, hardware and zipper detailing, sizes 0-18."

And she says all black items (there are 50 of them!) are 20 percent off.

The show runs Aug. 17-25, and you can book appointments to see it day, evening or on the weekends.

Contact Sally at 919-781-0086 or smwooten@nc.rr.com.

(PS ... she also has Carlisle's Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation scarf available for $125. All proceeds go to help find a cure for breast cancer. And Sally says the scarves make beautiful gifts for those who have been touched by breast cancer.)

Fall fashion workshop planned

Need a little help figuring out what fall trends will work best for your body type and coloring?

Local style expert Mary Michele Little, owner of One Chic Mama, is having a workshop on the season's hottest new trends and how to wear them. "Women can fell a little dictated to when it comes to trends, and I'm here to help them find what works for them," she said. "All trends are not right for every woman, so learning the nuances of wearing trends that let her personal style and beauty shine through are important for creating a look that works."

Amen, Michele!

The workshop will be held Aug. 22 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at My Girlfriend's Closet at 104 W. Chatham St. in downtown Apex. Cost is $10.

Want to go? Contact Michele at michele@onechicmama.com or call My Girlfriend’s Closet at 919-303-0651.
