Sigh, not again.
Time Warner Cable is battling it out with another network, this time putting the FX channel on the line. Alan Wolf at the .biz blog reports that the cable company is negotiating a new deal with News Corp., and if an agreement is not reached, local cable customers could miss shows like "Damages," "Nip/Tuck," and "Rescue Me."
Earlier this month, TWC had a similar stand-off with The CW, and last year, there was a contract dispute with Viacom (MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon). Get all the horrifying details at .biz.
Fans of FX's brutal biker drama "Sons of Anarchy" get their second season premiere tonight, after having suffered through last season's ender in which a club-ordered hit went horribly wrong. Part of tonight's premiere will be spent cleaning up that mess, but also tending to new business.
The First 48 (9pm, A&E) - Homicide cops in Miami investigate two murders: one involving a man gunned down in broad daylight, and the other is the murder of a young man by someone on a bike. Since the chances of solving a crime are cut in half if the cops don't get a lead in the first 48 hours, the clock is ticking.
Rescue Me (10pm, FX) - The season 5 finale has everyone in a big ole mess, as usual. Perhaps most significantly, Teddy's dealing with the loss of his wife, a loss which has a strong connection to Tommy (right) and his boozy behavior. Teddy holds it together surprisingly well. For awhile. And Janet and Sheila's big plan goes awry, leaving a trail of destruction in their wake. And there's always the question of who Tommy will end up with. Janet? Or Sheila or Kelly? Or just drunk and alone?
Hell's Kitchen (8pm, Fox) - The fourteen contestants have to make perfect 6-inch sausages for Drew Lachey! Who said reality television isn't glamorous?
So who the heck was Ellen taunting and possibly killing in the opening of last night's season premiere? Even though she despises both Patty and Frobisher, we shouldn't jump to any conclusions. As the season unfolds, we'll see it could literally be anyone and everyone.
Season 2 follows the same general format as Season 1: we open on a mysteriously provocative scene and we don't get to see exactly what is going on. All we see is Ellen Parsons (Rose Byrne) holding a glass of scotch and a pistol, and explaining to someone why they should be terrified of her. Just who is on the other side of her menacing threat will unfold slowly throughout the season, and trust me, there are a lot of candidates.
