The question seems to be how much change is coming to the magnet program and how soon.
As noted in today's article by Thomas Goldsmith, the new board majority says it will keep the magnet program but will likely make changes as part of a review. One potential change would be the easing of rules that now say that only magnet schools can offer certain courses and electives.
Changes that, for instance, would let schools in western Wake or North Raleigh offer more magnet-like programs would be welcomed by some parents.
"We don't want the whipped cream — give us the crumbs," said school board member Ron Margiotta.
The SAS report was also mentioned in an op-ed piece urging Wake to find a better way to discipline students.
In today's op-ed piece, the authors say the new school board needs to address why Wake issues so many long-term suspensions, especially compared to Charlotte. The op-piece says both Enloe and Garner high schools gave more long-term suspensions last year than 107 of the state's 115 school districts.
Enloe swim coach Vickie Peoples, NCHSAA administrator Carolyn Shannonhouse and former Durham Jordan swim coach and NCHSAA counsel Jim Maxwell will enter the NCHSAA Hall of Fame.
The love was flowing Tuesday for Rosa Gill at her last meeting as a school board member.
Gill was bestowed with awards and words of praise. Gill received several standing ovations from the audience.
A resolution passed by the board praised Gill for being a "dedicated member of the Wake County Board of Education, committed to a thoughtful process, willing to address difficult issues by involving and listening to others and unfailingly focused on the success of every child."
Enloe High School isn’t the only one whose bell schedule got tweaked today.
While Enloe's schedule was changed again to add 10 more minutes each day for the upcoming school year, six other schools needed changes as well.
Chief Academic Officer Donna Hargens said the districtwide bell schedule list the school board approved on March 31 had some errors and left out at least one school.
The school board had a pretty busy day today.
The board elected Kevin Hill as the new chairman and agreed on a procedure for soliciting applicants to fill Rosa Gill's seat.
The board trimmed $3.3 million out of the budget after getting less than requested from commissioners.

Enloe High School's bell schedule will change again and it could impact other schools in the process.
While the details are still being finalized, Enloe is expected to add another 10 minutes to the school day for the 2009-10 school year. This comes on top of the 10 minutes that the school board had agreed to add to Enloe's day as part of the districtwide bell schedule changes for this fall.
The new Enloe change creates additional transportation challenges.
It doesn't look like every school wants to take part in the extra early release days this fall.
Enloe High School has asked the school board for a waiver from the six Wednesday early release days, when classes would end 2 1/2 hours early. They're not asking for a waiver from the weekly one-hour early dismissals on Wednesdays.
The school board is expected to discuss the issue on Tuesday.
