Duke announced that freshman center Elizabeth Williams has recently been diagnoised with a stress fracture in her lower right leg, but will be available for NCAA tournament play this weekend.
Williams, the ACC rookie and defensive player of the year, will wear a brace as the second-seeded Blue Devils open the first round of the Fresno Regional in Nashville, Tenn., on Sunday.
The Blue Devils face 15th-seeded Samford and are seeking their first NCAA tournament championship.
Williams, who averaged 14.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.8 blocks and 1.6 assists this season, is a central part of Duke's offensive and defensive plans, especially as injuries have shortened the bench this season.
The Virginia Beach native has had one of the most productive rookie seasons in school history. Her 109 blocks set a freshman record for blocks and her 3.8 average is second nationally.
