New principal named to Fox Road Elementary School

The Wake County school board appointed one principal and three interims principals on Tuesday.

Robert Lewis was hired to be principal of Fox Road Elementary School in North Raleigh with a salary of $106,992. The former longtime Millbrook Elementary School principal has been principal of Ordway Elementary School in Bainbridge Island, Wash., since 2006.

Until Lewis starts, the board reappointed Teresa Abron to stay on as Fox Road's interim principal through the end of June.

New principal named to North Forest Pines Elementary School

The Wake County school board appointed a principal to North Forest Pines Elementary School tonight and made several interim principal appointments.

Syreeta Smith was promoted from assistant principal to principal of North Forest Pines Elementary in Raleigh. She's been at the school since 2007 and will receive a salary of $80,788.24.

As for interim principals:

Principals named to Enloe High School and other Wake County schools

Wake County school leaders announced tonight the appointments and transfers of seven permanent and seven interim principals.

Scott Lyons was named principal of Enloe High in Raleigh with a salary of $99,666. He's been principal of Leesville Road High since 2009. He used to be an assistant principal at Enloe.

Christopher McCabe will be principal of Heritage Middle in Wake Forest with a salary of $93,303. He's been principal of North Forest Pines Drive Elementary since 2007.

School board sees dissent on principal appointments

Normally, the Wake County school board approves principal appointments unanimously.

But tonight, the board voted 6-2 on the entire list of administrative appointments presented to them. School board vice chairman John Tedesco and board member Debra Goldman didn't specify which one(s) they opposed.

School board makes high school principal changes

The Wake County school board moved one high school principal to Central Office this evening and transferred another principal to a different school.

John Williams, the principal of Middle Creek High School in Cary, was appointed senior director for high school education. The job became open after Ruth Steidinger switched to being senior director for middle school education.

Williams opened Middle Creek in 2001 and will leave the school on Nov. 1. Thomas Dixon will serve as interim principal at Middle Creek, Dixon, the former longtime principal of Apex High School, will receive a salary that's equivalent to $131,580 a year.

Interim principals named for Stough and York elementary schools

Interim principals were appointed by the Wake County school board tonight to fill in at Stough and York elementary schools.

Dixie Frazier will fill in at Stough with a salary that's equivalent to $96,604 a year. Before retiring, she was principal of East Cary Middle, Reedy Creek Elementary and Underwood Elementary.

Edward Gainor was chosen to fill in again at York with a salary equivalent to $99,491 a year. The retired former principal of Leesville Road Elementary served as York's interim principal in the summer of 2008.

York lost its principal to one of the Renaissance Schools. Stough's principal left to run Carroll Middle.

Three principals appointed

The Wake County school board tapped principals tonight to run three schools.

Therman L. Flowers was named principal of Reedy Creek Middle School in Cary, with a salary of $88,545. Flowers is currently principal of Pearsontown Elementary in Durham but had run Millbrook Elementary in Raleigh until 2007.

Interim principal named at Green Elementary

The school board appointed Ed Gainor today to be the interim principal of Green Elementary School in North Raleigh.

Gainor has been taking interim principal jobs since he retired as principal of Leesvlle Road Elementary in 2007. He'll be at Green from Oct. 27 to Dec. 21, with a salary equivalent to $105,387 a year.

Gainor had filled in as Green's interim principal for a few months last year.

No word on what happened to Green Principal Shelly Watson. 

Gainor's new job

There are more than a few Ed Gainor fans on the blog so I thought you'd be interested in the latest news on him.

Tonight, the school board appointed Gainor to be an interim assistant principal at Wakefield Elementary from Nov. 19 to Dec. 19. Gainor was the popular principal at Leesville Road Elementary from when it opened in 1992 until his retirement in 2007.

Since leaving Leesville, Gainor has joined the cadre of retired principals who've been asked to fill in on a temporary basis at different schools. He's been an interim principal at Green and York elementary schools.
