Predict Tri-Nine, TISAC and EPIC Tournaments

I just got through filling out all our local teams' conference
tournament brackets on bracketmaker.com. Now you can get into March

by simply clicking on "Predict It!" at the top of each page.

A way-too-early look at next year: Girls Basketball

While our area men's teams are losing a ton of seniors, almost every area girls team returns just about everybody. In fact, only two of the 12 players named to the Tri-Eight All-Conference teams will graduate (Cary's Kelsey Campbell and Athens Drive's Alyx Ingram). In some ways, next year's girls basketball teams will resemble the competition that we saw this year from the boys. There's one clear frontrunner (Apex) but a number of talented squads with a chance to go deep next postseason.

Some writers rag on themselves for not being good at predicting brackets, but Sports Editor J. Mike Blake has nothing to be ashamed of after getting 20 of 25 possible conference tournament games correct last week. He looks back at his "home runs," "foul tips" and of course, the five games where he "swung on and missed."

Sports Editor J. Mike Blake looks at the other boys' and girls' basketball teams playing conference tournaments this week, and gives his predictions on how Cary Christian, Cary Academy and Holly Springs will do in their brackets.
